It’s become clear that Doctson is not the type of receiver the Redskins need. He can be good, if he is afforded the chances he needs. But the Redskins’ current offense, helmed by Alex Smith, doesn’t place a great amount of value on receivers to begin with, and there’s a type of receiver that fits it best. Doctson isn’t it.
Doctson’s case isn’t pure bad luck, and it isn’t injury proneness alone. There is a fundamental part of Doctson’s game that holds him back from reaching his full potential in the Redskins offense. Can he reach it somewhere else? Save your speculation. In time, we may find out for ourselves.

Yes, I did read what I posted. It’s ANOTHER writer THREE YEARS later STILL wondering what Doc will be. He’s dead weight. That’s what he is

Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant

How long did we hold Malcom Kelly and Devin Thomas???? If THREE years later you still don’t know what you have, you have a problem. The guy has more health problems than my 90 year old grandmother:

Give him the full year and see his stats. If he only plays like 12 games and has 24 catches, we might need to move on.

I still think he'll end up being very valuable for us.

I’ve seen enough with him to know we should consider elevating Mo Harris or Floyd to his role but releasing him for Bryant would be utterly stupid and is the statement that made all of us immediately judge you as a moron.

Show me where it says he's dead weight or should be cut.

Here's the article in a nutshell

Quote:
The Josh Doctson situation is one with many layers, layers that must be uncoiled. If you’re looking for someone to tell you that he’s a bust, or that he’s soft, or that the next NFL phenom waiting to explode onto the scene, you’ve come to the wrong place. Sweeping generalizations dissuade constructive thought. The truth, as it often is, is more complex.

If Doctson is healthy enough to stay off injured reserve, the Redskins could look into trading him, but the amount of suitors would inevitably be sparse. There’s too much uncertainty surrounding the TCU product. More likely than not, he will spend the rest of the season with the burgundy and gold, in some capacity. In the case of any relocation, a question must be asked: Is the situation bad enough, that the Redskins feel it would be best to cut ties altogether, if no trades materialize?

Re: Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant

I have no idea about whether Dez is good/bad teammate I have no way to know and never just accept media narrative about any player.....

I do know that Dez would instantly be the best receiver on this squad
And despite all the negative comments about his production his production is still better then most people probably realize

Bring on Dez

FYI, Scnheed speaks for all of us.

He's not just some entitled asshole. He carefully collects our thoughts, feelings, hopes, wishes, etc. and translates them into these perfect posts you see here today. #keepit100 #fuckyouschneed #asshole

Re: Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant

I feel all this Doctson talk stems from the bye week.

It's like we're back in the off-season with nothing else to talk about so fans are nit-picking players after 3 games. I've even seen Ryan Kerrigan catching some heat?

Our coaches and FO are well aware of Doctsons production. Let's just see what happens the last 13+ games... I'm sure the necessary moves will be made if needed.

I'd rather hold out hope that he can eventually produce rather than give up on him. Especially while he's on his rookie contract and especially ESPECIALLY while we have no better options.

RE-LAX

Re: Time to Cut Doctson and Bring in Bryant

I agree that it would be better to give him this entire season to see what happens. But I also believe Doctson chances are running out and that he has been a major disappointment. This not a bye week boredom thing. Anyone with two working eyes can say Doctsons grade as a Redskin is incomplete, which is not good.
