I think it is because he's Vinny's pick. The upside from Westbrook is there but the redskins make non football based decisions... I m sorry but it doesn't matter who you train with if you have no talent

during the last preseason game, he had a decent game. and the past year during preseason he shined but can never seem to make the team. He is like the defenses version a mason

Re: CB option to look at ?

We must have been watching different games, I really don't remember Westbrook doing anything to stand out last year

no we watched the same games you don't remember the fumble he caused and then recovered in his first season with us, the second was a down year for him. What did tryon do last year to warrant a spot on the roster last year, other than be drafted?

I don't think anything knows what you are talking about. I think if they found out tomorrow that Byron Westbrook was adopted, he'd be released in five minutes.

I remember that Westbrook fumble recover/touchdown (I think) two years ago. Since then has he done anything? Plus, didn't you say he shined last preseason, as in 2008?

At the least, Tryon is better than Westbrook on special teams. Look, we don't know yet if Tryon will be an effective DB in this league but I definitely don't think that they should bump him to make room for Westbrook. I really just haven't seen anything from him to warrant a roster spot

I think this is pretty fair. Westbrook wasn't picked on by the Ravens so people are thinking that he is better. The truth seems to be that Tryon got to get first half snaps because he earned it practice. He just didn't do well with his big opportunity.

I don't see Westbrook really having a future with us. He has had a few years to earn a spot and never has. It is pretty clear that he is at best the fifth corner.

Wow! 54 posts into this thread and no one has suggested Pacman Jones as a CB the Skins need to look at... :yeahright

I saw calls for Pacman in the comments section of Redskins Insider.

NO to Pacman. He's worse than Vick, in terms of criminal record IMO.

Re: CB option to look at ?

Malcolm Kelly was interviewed by Kevin Sheehan on SportsTalk 980 this afternoon, and he said without hesitation that Tryon has been the best of the young CBs. While conceding that Tryon played poorly in the Baltimore game, he's still convinced that Tryon will be a good player for the defense
