He had time to step back, plant the foot, clean pocket .. he just wasnt getting the ball out on time and in rythym. A lot of clutch, clutch, tuck and run or clutch, clutch, scramble take dump off to a guy just standing still bc his route ended 2 seconds ago. Im waiting for some film breakdown to see if it was good coverage D or Heinike hesitant bc he doesnt know how to read/throw with anticipation ... or both. Most of his throws and releases were after a guy made their break. Its his 3rd start .. but it looks like backyard college intramural football where the most athletic guy is the QB who holds the ball then just tucks and runs 50% of the plays. |

Re: Welcome to DC Chase Young!
That'll happen here from time to time.
Fuck it, it's Monday, fill my kool-aid back up. Chase gets 2+ sacks on Sunday. JDR - Just as an FYI, you are allowed to run stunts in the NFL.

I don't know if this is on Scott or TH, but I feel like they are always looking for the deep pass. We don't need a deep bomb on every play and TH is not Mahommes. In a game where we needed to control the clock and keep the Bills offense on the sidelines, that didn't happen. I still think we have the talent on offense to focus on running the ball, short and screen passes to allow us to control the clock and keep the opponent's offense off the field.

He's still young and trying to figure it out. Give it time.

Re: Welcome to DC Chase Young!
John Keim
@john_keim · Sep 27 On Chase Young: Finished watching every pass rush from Sun. Can see what Rivera was talking about with the stutter step. If he starts, then stutters, nothing. Quick stutter then go? Got some pressure. Best rushes: Full force ahead. Hands better in those spots; more power w/quicks John Keim @john_keim · Sep 27 Rivera said Chase Young has had some good rushes. Also said, "Has to understand what his strengths are and attack with his strengths because he can be a disruptive player." Rivera said he wants to see less stutter-stepping; get off and go. "When he is moving, he is a force." ------------ You can see on some of the clips .. sometimes Chase does this stutter step thing before engaging or making a move on the T and the T just stands there like "thank you for wasting 2 seconds on that and now trying to beat me when your flat footed". Against Atlanta I think we see a more quick off the snap Chase. Thats his bread winner. Quick, flying off the snap. I dont care if he tries a swim move or a bull rush, just explode off the snap first. |

Re: Welcome to DC Chase Young!
Hmm, be glad to see that, but curious why he's suddenly tried stuttering and why nobody has addressed it before game 3. Haven't seen enough PS film to know if he has been doing it for months, but shouldn't the DL coach, if not JDR have picked this up and dealt with it before RR even had to mention it?

Re: Welcome to DC Chase Young!
The biggest stutter step was drafting him that high to begin with ..

Re: Welcome to DC Chase Young!
I really don’t know who we would have drafted instead. Herbert? Even in post draft interviews the GM for chargers was not viewing him as an immediate starter.
