We have a lot of the advantages leaning our way even if we lose a game or two. The Philly series will be critical though. It would be nice to keep a lead on them.

The Eagles are 2-3 in conference, 1-0 in the division.
Dallas is also 2-3 in conference, 1-1 in the division.

Gruden needs to keep them playing tough focused football each week (not like me with this post lol)
We are back to what use to win around here, run, stop, the run. The only missing is the deep passing game that worked so well under Gibbs 1.

Its fun watching defense hit people.

I'd much rather have great defense than great offense. I also think its way easier for an offense to improve over the season. We need to find a way to get an extra TD per game.
They do that this team becomes a top 10 offensive machine. Right now they are averaging 20.9 pts/gm. I would be happy with an additional 3 pts. Push the production up to 24 pts and I think this defense will win most games.

Alex Smith's first season with the Redskins in 2018, projected:
63.2% completion, 3,568 passing yards, 18 TDs, 5 INTs, 91.3 passer rating

I'm just illustrating reasonable expectations when a QB joins a new offense. We need him to get better but reality is it takes time. I just know he went 11-4 in that first season as a Chief, while he was learning the ropes, and God willing it will be the same here.

Can we win a SB with Smith playing like this? No. But we knew that. Allow for the possibility he'll get better as he plays here, and draft for the possibility he won't.
You should have included Alex's entire stats in KC (I'm not counting SF), he gets better with time. According to ESPN:

2013: 60.0% comp, 3,313 yards, 23 td & 7 int, 89.1 rating
2014: 65.3% comp, 3,265 yards, 18 td & 6 int, 93.4 rating
2015: 65.3% comp, 3,486 yards, 20td & 7 int, 95.4 rating
2016: 67.1% comp, 3,502 yards, 15 td & 8 int, 91.2 rating
2017: 67.5% comp, 4,042 26 td & 5 int, 104.7 rating

It is crazy how when the game starts I have no doubt we will get a real quick one or two touchdowns, but after that initial burst I pray for fg’s. I go from completely confident to completely hopeless.

Re: Giants Postgame

Alex will finish with 20 Pass Tds most likely and around 5 Ints, that is very good IMO. Dude just plays smart football and doesn't put us in bad situations

Something we haven't talked about yet, I think we need to throw some props to the burgundy pants making a return this year.

Gruden is 5-0 when playing with a lead this year. I think he gets the concept of game control. But that leaves us fans nailbiting all game long.

(he's also 0-2 when he doesn't take the initial lead)

Per Keim

"Skins are not likely to make a move"

So no CB or WR help coming as of now

Hopefully this means that Dunbar's health is trending in a positive direction.

Not to bring this up -- but I think those were RGIII's rookie #s exactly. Enough to make the playoffs.

That’s ok, Trey Quinn should be back this week.

The issue is Alex Smith the last several years has been a very good qb...and Jay Gruden offense in the last couple year is known for have a good passing scheme. So to watch the qb play this year has been disappointing. Especially when I heard Alex is the best deep ball passer and was great in the red zone. He has time to throw the ball, protection isn’t an issue. It would be nice to have a middle and deep range passing attack...we have opportunities bc defense are creeping and going single high safety against us.

I want to see steps...I think Jay needs to look at the play action game...execution and scheme. RPO execution, can we get better opportunities? Maybe add a burner WR to help open up the down field opportunities.

I’m offering solutions...to say, “this is the Alex we envisioned” is simply dishonest.
I agree this is not the Alex we envisioned, but to hope that he was going to reproduce last year's deep ball productivity is delusional IMO.
Give me the efficient short passing game version of Alex Smith right now and this team is virtually unstoppable, don't try to turn him into something he's not.

I don't know about THE most in football, but I've been saying for several seasons Mason doesn't get the love he deserves. He's not fast but he's a solid tackler, covers pretty well and is one hell of a tough mofo!

Sometimes it seems he just lacks that killer instinct, but you need that kind of players on your football team, not making mistakes and doing their job ultra consistently.
