Your next QB for the Skins?
OK, we all know this season is a bust, and most of us know that while Campbell is NOT the #1 problem, he is indeed a problem and needs to be replaced. If you don't feel he should be replaced, feel free to move beyond this thread...for those that do know he needs to be replaced, who would you replace him with.
Of course we would all love to have Peyton Manning, but there aren't enough first round picks in the world that could pry him away from Indy. So who will be your poison? Clausen? Bradford? Tebow? How bout a current NFL qb in a poor situation like Marc Bulger? Brady Quinn, JaMarcus Russell, Jeff Garcia, and numerous others will be available, or at least available with minimal force. (mods, feel free to post a poll)

Re: Your next QB for the Skins?
Definitely not JaMarcus Russell and Jeff Garcia is getting too old (would just be another Mark Brunell situation for us.)
I definitely feel the best way to go is to get a good veteran QB (Maybe let Collins start if he decides to play again next year) so that whoever we draft isn't thrown in the fire. I realize guys like Ben R or Matt Ryan were good right out of the gate, but that is something you would normally not expect. Maybe even that first year under a new GM (I sure hope so) and coach, we don't go after a QB, but go after rebuilding the offensive line first. We get a decent vet QB that first year (Gibbs had it right even though some didn't like Brunell) and draft someone out of college next season. Of course, if one of the high profile QBs are available in next year's draft, you go ahead and get them, but if not, you definitely work on the OL firstly.

Re: Your next QB for the Skins?
If we were to stick with the WCO, then I would sign a veteran QB that knows the WCO. I would draft another QB in the second or third round that I think would be a fit for the WCO and begin to groom him. Whatever veteran that we signed would battle Colt Brennan for the starting position. The drafted guy would get a full 3 years to learn the WCO before he even gets a chance to compete for the starting job.
If we are going to start over from scratch on offense then I am going to use my second pick in the draft for a QB if I have multiple first round selections. If I only have one first round pick, then I will wait until year two to use my first rounder on a QB. From day one the first round draft pick QB will be the starter. In both of these scenarios I use the majority of the early picks to focus on the offensive line. Last edited by KLHJ2; 10-27-2009 at 05:40 PM. |

Depending on who the coach is, there's a chance JC stays. Just saying.

Re: Your next QB for the Skins?
You know, earlier this season I thought that he could be the guy and he could get it done, but I am just not seeing it. Maybe I'm listening too much to Charlie Casserly or the MNF crew, but JC just doesn't pull the trigger. Pardon the pun, but I would rather be in the foxhole with the guy that accidentally commits fratricide trying to take out the enemy than with the guy who is afraid to pull the trigger at all and gets us all killed.

Re: Your next QB for the Skins?
Let's make this a more specific thing...
Everybody throw out a name for Game 1 starter in 2010... I say... Sam Bradford.

Re: Your next QB for the Skins?
You know JC should definitely not stay. Among many mistakes in decision-making, he ran in front of his blocker, Heyer, right into a sack. I don't think I've ever seen a quarterback like Campbell that creates so many mistakes FOR HIMSELF (and as a result for the redskins team). Instead of raising the level of play of his teammates, he lowers them.
