So, if DHop misses a few FGs and we sign Hocker, the circle will continue. Wonder how long that can go?

In all seriousness, I really like what we've seen of Hopkins so far. Honestly, he and Breeland were the only ones that seemed to play well against the Jets.

Hopkins has been money and making McC's choice look like a great decision. Unfortunately we've seen kickers come and go based on a bad 1-2 games, so hope his good play continues.

I don't think there's any downside to Hopkins yet.

He's shown he has a strong leg and he's accurate. He missed a 50+ yard kick, then came back, corrected himself and made a 50+ yard kick.

Can't hate too much on that. Barring some sort of catastrophic implosion, I think he'll at least make it through the season.

Well....Dempsey made a 63 yarder with half a foot. Sooo maybe he should be doing a bit better than that?
....just sayin'

The way kickers kicked FGs back then (Straight approach), with the style of shoe Dempsey wore (A shortened old school kicking shoe with a larger front face) that half foot was actually a small advantage. Like with a golf club the larger face lessens the chance of a miss hit. Don't know if the modern FG kickers wear different shoes that the other players, but they did
back in Dempsey's day. In today's NFL I doubt Dempsey would have been allowed to wear a special shoe, Goodell (I can't stand him) would have told him to were two identical shoes and stuff a sock in the one with the deformed foot.

I questioned the move at the time but I'm one kick away from ordering a jersey.. So far he's playing at an elite level. Unfortunately kickers just disappear and he could end up doing the same but I sure hope we have our guy for the foreseeable future.

Hopkins has done well so far....he's kicked impressively and and It's great that the deep kickoff is no longer an issue...
