Re: ACC Tournament

And yes, UVA relies way too much on the 3 pointer and the backcourt.

Re: ACC Tournament

They were down by two with a min ish left. And the refs just had some bullshit calls. Obviously we put ourselves that position, but that kind of reffing is unacceptable in the ACC tourney.

Re: ACC Tournament

I feel a little better... but still, I'm not over the terps losing.

I'm hoping we make it to the at least the sweet 16, but we'll see.

I heard there were at least two occasions when Singletary pulled up for a three and kicked his leg out (a la Reggie Miller) and the refs fell for it and gave him the call. Apparently one of the times he was literally just throwing it up to get the call, and it would have been a complete airball if the ref hadn't called the foul.
Also, on Friday I was watching the Purdue game with a bunch of guys who graduated from there, and they were yelling at the refs constantly for not making calls. The funny thing was that I thought the refs were right in most of the situations.
I really think it's all about your perspective. If you're pulling for one team you always tend to think the refs are screwing you over, especially if you're losing. I felt like the refs were totally blowing calls in Miami's favor on Thursday, but it's probably only because I was rooting for UMD.

Re: ACC Tournament

No AMD I really think it wasn't. All the fouls I am talking about were BEFORE the singletary incident, which I thought wasn't fair either. By that time we were out of the game. There were calls on Cain and Diane that were really bad. And also before that in the 1st and early 2nd half.

Re: ACC Tournament

Gives me some comfort that we lost to NC State, seeing that they made the finals and gave UNC a run for their money.

bad officiating is the only reason the wolfpack was able to stay in the game.

I didn't get to see the game, so I'm not really sure. I was pretty much just saying that I think it's mainly about perception.
Rarely do I ever say "damn, the refs just helped the Skins/Terps/Wizards/etc. out with that call," it's usually the other way around.

Just gotta love Deadspin:
NCAA Pants Party: Maryland Vs. Davidson - Deadspin

Read the comments. Best one is about Gary's summer hangout, The Starboard, in Dewey Beach.
