The 2016 MLB thread

I know the regular season is a couple weeks away from starting but it's a little late to start a spring training thread. We can start with this story, the 2016 season hasn't even started yet and it looks like the White Sox are turning into a total shitshow:

Chris Sale -- Chicago White Sox were lied to by exec Williams

I feel bad for Adam Laroche's kid. I understand the perspective of the owner not wanting a players' kid around the team 24/7 but if the team doesn't have an issue with it I don't see a problem. I'm sure they could have used another year of Laroche but I don't see him coming back, it looks like he's taking this pretty personal as is his right to. And if he setup his deal so Drake would have full access that's a shitty thing for the team to do.

As far as my Nats go, I'm hoping for a solid rebound year. Initially I hated the Dusty Baker hire but I'm more cautiously optimistic now.

Re: The 2016 MLB thread

Opening Day at the OPACY!

Supposed to rain right at first pitch at 3 pm.

I do not have high expectations for the Os. as the saying goes, dan duquette can go suck a bag of dicks. Seriously, fuck that guy. After it got leaked last year he was talking with the Blue Jays, he has done a shit job here.

His 2 jobs for the offseason:

1. improve SP - he failed miserably. losing chen and adding gallardo (who cost a mid 1st round pick and has shoulder/forearm issues = TJ)

2. get leadoff hitter w good OBP - signed a guy from korea who cant play and now you have to keep him on your 25 man roster bc its in his contract that you cant send him to the minors and he refuses to go to minors.

We would have been better off if DD had done nothing this offseason. We now have to carry a guy on on 25 just to make him sit on the bench RG3 style until he quits (great for clubhouse chemistry), lost our best pitcher and added a journeyman arm ... and we also gave chris davis 158 MILLION DOLLARS when no one was going to give him 100 million.
---------------------------

with all that said, we could set the team home run record this year ... and still end up a little below .500 bc our SP sucks.

another long year for my Atlanta Braves....but my other team the NY Mets should roll to the division title with that pitching.

Watch out for Steven Matz

Just hope the Cubs can really win the Pennant. Not a huge baseball fan but love the underdog and the Cinderella stories.

Yeah I get that a lot...those teams used to be in separate divisions: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_League_East

Atlanta used to be in the west?? Weird. Mets in the east.

The Cardinals used to be in the NFC East, but screw the Braves and Mets

Don't care, that was ages ago. The question remains.

Re: The 2016 MLB thread

I get the Braves link because of the Richmond Braves, but where do you get the Mets thing?

I'm a Phillies fan so I obviously can't handle this.

Re: The 2016 MLB thread

Yeah it's been awhile...first real baseball memory was 86 World Series run with the mets.

And your spot on with the Richmond braves and the fact tbs used to broadcast all the braves games as well.

Your really gonna hate that I'm starting to pull for the nats too.

Re: The 2016 MLB thread

The Nats might get back into the playoffs this year, if Harper can stay healthy, and if the overrated Zimmerman can stay on the field and if the pitching holds up, maybe they can do something.
