1991 Redskins 20th Anniversary

Wish i would have started this earlier in the week. This is gona date some of us. I was a junior in high school.

What I remember the most:
1. The 2nd Game Chip Shot booming some kicks in Dallas
2. Thinking Ricky Ervins was a bad ass
3. Knowing Brad Edwards was one
4. Hating MC Hammmer and the Falcons.....Seat cushions flying!!!
5. Being glad Detroit beat Dallas
6. Knowing Detroit didnt stand a chance coming into RFK!
7. Sick that instant replay showed Monk stepping out of bounds in the SB for an early TD.
8. Feeling that it was a done deal when Kurt Gouvea picked Kelly
9. Feeling even better when Ryp threw a freakin perfect pass to Clark.
10. Thankfull that i latched on to the Skins in 82 and the greatest most loyal fan base in the NFL.

Most importantly (something many fans today are to young to remember) the feeling that each week we were gonna kick the shit outta' somebody and NO MATTER what the score, we could...and would come back to win.
I did not DREAD game day but looked forward to it.....imagine that?
I made a boat load of $$$ on that team......

That was 20 years ago? Sigh. I was in grad school.

I'm with Hog1. I clearly remember the feeling of utter dominance. The question wasn't "will we win?," it was "how badly will we spank the opposition?"

It is hard to forget MC Hammer. It is hard to forget getting revenge on the Eagles. It is hard to forget the destruction of Detroit. It is hard to forget going 11-0.

Man what a team.

14 and clearly remember the same feeling as above, it was never a question of us losing. If it was a loss durning the first Gibbs era, it was clearly an upset by the other team.

That season, Ill never forget being over a friends house watching the first time we played atlanta that year and the utter dominace we showed that game. Ryp threw for like 500 yards and we stacked like 45 points on their ass.

Re: 1991 Redskins 20th Anniversary

I was a little kid around 1st grade age. My mom knew Don Warren's wife and got a few balls signed by almost everyone for a fundraiser she was doing for my elementary school. I dont think my mom asked for extras but Mrs. Warren got me and my brother a ball too. Definitely the sweetest Redskins thing i have.

I dont really remember much but i do remember everyone being worried about Jim kelly during the superbowl. Hopefully we will be 1991 style dominate in a few years!

thats pretty cool, but the first paragraph kinda runs together and it sounds like Don Warrens wife signed your balls. Thats the story Id roll with.

Damn. "gonna date some of y'all" indeed. I was 3 years old and my family had just moved to NoVa. I wish I could remember something from those days but sadly no, I didn't become a skins fan until around a decade later. It wasn't even the first sport I was into, because of my height in my youth and where I lived I was into basketball first lol.

All I'm gonna say is I hope it's not another 20 years before the Skins win another championship.

Re: 1991 Redskins 20th Anniversary

I remember Brad Edwards body rocking Andre Reed, and Reed getting all pissed.

Best team ever?In 2010, ESPN conducted a "super league," consisting of the best Super Bowl winning teams of all time; the 1991 Redskins finished the regular season in first place with record of 14-2 and beat the 1992 Dallas Cowboys in the league finals to be named the greatest team of all time[3].

Wasnt that a nice feeling! Man the skins used to have some serious swagg!! The feeling that evedry year we were going to be right in the thick of everything! Even after the body bag game you just felt we had enough character to rebound.

Re: 1991 Redskins 20th Anniversary

If I look at the schedule, I can remember great plays in all those games, but the point in the season when I knew that team was really good was week 3 or 4 when we played Philly on a monday night. Had a bet w/my best friend who's a philly fan. We stomped them 23-0! And that was a pretty decent team.

The 91 skins were one, if not the, most efficient teams ever. Near perfect football all year long.
