2024 Commanders Off-Season Thread

My favorite time of the football year is between when our standard shitty season ends and the draft. It's here baby!

1. Who is the GM
2. Who is the HC
3. Does the new GM like Daniels or Maye more?

These are the questions.

I would like to know the discussion between Harris and Joe Gibbs had in the box. I'm sure Harris will listen to Joe.

Let's hope not. Joe Gibbs recommended Rivera. We all love Joe but he's been out of the game too long to be recommending a GM or coach.

Re: 2024 Commanders Off-Season Thread

Lots of numbers coming to mind as we wrap-up this shitshow today.
  1. Ron Rivera 4-13 this year. Greg Olsen mentions how much respect his players have for him, but the name of the game is winning. Enjoy forced retirement Ron, you deserve it.
  2. Aka the number of wins we had in 2 games to start the season. Coincidentally, also the number of wins we recorded in the following 15 games.
  3. Ron's faith in Jack Del Rio. Ultimately what sank the ship this year.
  4. First round draft picks on the d-line to start the year. Bought high and sold low. It's the Commies way.
  5. Terry Mac - I can't believe it took Sam Howell 16 games and 59 minutes to get you to the 1k mark for the year. I still believe in you though. Let's see what the next qb can do because Howell needs another 2-3 years on the bench before I want to see him in a game again.
  6. Sam Cosmi - the only starter on the o-line worth retaining. I loved seeing him shutdown Parsons to start the game.

78Million Cap Space
64Million "Effective Cap Space" from Overthecap.com

2nd overall pick

New Ownership (That understands sports and isn't a donkey's ass)
Likely new stadium plan laid out within 3 years

We are likely the most desirable job in the NFL

Re: 2024 Commanders Off-Season Thread

Josh Harris ain't that type of guy who is gonna fire anyone before they can leave the stadium.

I'm assuming tomorrow they come in, he lets the entire staff clean out their offices, gives them a handshake and tells them good luck.

Ron's a respected person but a lousy coach. Harris is gonna keep it classy, thank him for his time and wish him well. If it was Snyder Ron wouldn't have made it past the Thanksgiving blowout.

Chargers look good too, they already have the main puzzle piece figured out with Herbert and that team has talent, just needs competent coaching. Spanos as owner is probably gonna hold them back a little though, he's not much better than Tepper.

Did J Gibbs recommend RR, or did RR seek out Joe prior to accepting the job?

Yeah, I think Harris beats Spanos, at least for now. Hopefully, the restraint Harris has shown throughout this season bodes well for our franchise's future.
