Re: Skins 23 Panthers 17 post game
From Rich Tandler for all the Alex Smith fans:
2. Alex Smith still sputters While the Redskins started off well, Smith was erratic through the first half. He was good on 10 of 18 passes for 96 yards and two touchdowns. Smith certainly had his good moments, hitting receivers for some key first downs during the Redskins first-half scoring drives. He also had some passes that were way off the mark, even when he apparently had time to throw. Late in the first half the Redskins got good field position after a punt from deep in Panthers territory. But after an intentional grounding flag the Redskins were moved out of field goal range. Smith continued to flounder in the second half. After the Redskins moved into Carolina territory with their first possession of the third quarter, he threw third-and fourth-down passes late and inaccurate. He did hit a few passes in the drive that sealed thegame for Washington but overall his day was spotty.

Any TDs that is. They did score 3 in the 3rd against the Colts.

Re: Skins 23 Panthers 17 post game
The reality is that the offense has yet to find its rhythm with any consistency, and as that goes, so do the team's up-and-down fortunes from week to week. We lost to the Colts because the O never got going; the Colts scored 21 but the D cannot be expected to do more when the O isn't holding up its end of the bargain.
The O was likewise terrible against the Saints -- not that the D was any better, but you have to keep the ball away from Brees and his playmakers to have a shot at winning. We didn't, and therefore we didn't.] The Redskins have to get the O going against a strong Cowboys D. The Cowboys offense isn't scary (yesterday's beat down of Jax aside -- anther team whose O made it's D miserable) outside of Elliott. But if our O cannot do its job, keep the ball, score some points, and not force our D to win the game, we won't win. In fact, it might not be close. We win or lose every game by double digits it seems, and I see no reason why this week will be different. And the outcome will depend on which O shows up.

I cant believe I'm saying this, but we need Lauvao back. Bergstorm graded out terrible and per PFF he is now one of the worst Centers in the league.
We need to fix this shit first thing this offseason |

Roullier is a much better center than Bergstrom and Lauvao is better at LG than Roullier. |

Other PFF grades that I've noticed trending is the right direction is AP and CT...guys are performing at a high level 1-2 punch. Seriously good news and their work shows on the field. Couple guys who grading down lately: Mason Foster and Monte Nicholson. Monte has been down all year. Swearinger is making up for it grading very high...def top 10 safety in league. Our Dline are all solid...the usual suspects on the oline all playing and grading well. |

Re: Skins 23 Panthers 17 post game
Yeah, but the bigger truth that is painfully obvious is that our coaching staff is having a difficult time adjusting in the second half to keep pressure on the opposing team. The offense gets stopped, the defense will allow some key drives, and then suddenly, what looked to be an early blowout winds up being decided within the last few seconds.
Maybe the sentiment is that if you're winning by double digits, you don't need to make any halftime adjustments, but I think that's very wrong if the coaching staff thinks that way.

Re: Skins 23 Panthers 17 post game
Pointing out that the Skins scored 3 points versus zero points in the 3rd quarter all season is really picking the fly shit out of the pepper.
You know the point he was making. We have had teams stopping us cold after halftime all year long. Why do you suppose that has been happening? |

Skins 23 Panthers 17 post game
Look, he made it a point to emphasize we haven’t scored ANY points in the 3rd quarter. That’s simply not true. I’m not saying 3 points is a great thing, but again it’s accurate.
Obviously there’s been an issue in the 2nd half but it’s worth noting yesterday we had 3 long drives that ended in two field goals and ate up a ton of clock. |
