I think context is helpful for this article, the way Doug tells the story leaves you with a much different view of the situation.

chain of command is a far cry from the 2nd person from the top feeling that he must report all discretionary actions. A courtesy note that they were bringing in a high profile name I get, but " so I had to go to the principal’s office. If that had been my mama back in the day, I knew what would’ve happened in the principal’s office" no that is not chain of command, that is dysfunction.

The real question is whether the BAs role minimizes the dysfunction or amplifies it.

Last I checked DW's role involves trying to put the best pieces together with input from coaching/scouting/etc. Sure you have meetings, notes, briefings, but getting called to the principal's office isn't something that is going to bring in high level GM talent.

He is 6-4-1 with the Viking so its not going so smooth for him either. He even has more to work with.

I'd rather see Bruce go and see how that changes things then Gruden is it does not improve. Instead of dumping the cart and starting over.

No running game and until recently an underperforming D

I've worked under a number of managers throughout my career. Some good, some bad. But 90% of the time when you have a manager who is scared to let you talk to "his" boss without going through him, you have real organizational problems. Good organizations don't operate like that. If you are that high up the food chain but can't speak directly to Dan Snyder without going to Bruce? I don't know.. That doesn't sound like an open communication, team focused, organization.
I work for the same company, but up until spring of 2016 i worked in a different department. My ex manager was that way. She would always freak out whenever it sounded like someone was going to go to the department head about something and not tell her first. 9 months after she was made manager, she was terminated. Comes to find out she was hiding many things that weren't being done, and was always terrified that someone would mention it to the director before she could cover her tracks.

sounds like the same complaints we had here with him.

that same team went to the NFC Championship with Case Keenum and KC was supposed to be the missing piece.

He's not. And never will be.

It's not hate. KC just has a certain talent set, pretty damn good, but he has blocks that will keep him and his team from ever getting to a SB.

He will continually be a statistical powerhouse though

Totally different dynamics from year to year. It's painfully obvious Cousins is the better player. Keenum is a journeymen lower tier starter. Kirk is next level down from the elite starters.
