3/18 @4pm NFL Free Agency & Trading Period

The 2020 NFL free agency period will begin Wednesday, March 18 at 4 p.m. ET.
March 18 is also the first day of the 2020 NFL calendar and the opening of the league's trading period.
NFL Draft is not until 4/23, more than a month later. So it makes sense to start looking at Free Agency and who makes sense for us to plug some holes in the starting lineup.
I do not necessarily agree with this Sporting News Ranking of the top 50 free agents of 2020. But it helps to get an idea of who is out there and learn about them.

https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/...t1e9e5e76mip61

One guy that caught my eye, because I knew nothing about him, is 27 year old CB Byron Jones. He is quietly becoming a respected, solid CB and a great tackler. A good combination at 6-0, 205-pound former safety is a bruiser and a world class athlete. He plays all DB positions including slot CB. He holds the world record for standing broad jump 12' 3".

The other reason I bring him up is the Cowboys have little cap space and they have Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper and Byron Jones as FA's. They gave a first round draft pick to get Amari and Dak is their QB. I do not see the Cowboys being able to sign all three unless one gives a hometown discount and that would be stupid. There might be an opportunity here to get a great player because of the cap.

Re: 3/18 @4pm NFL Free Agency & Trading Period

I cannot wait to see what Rivera and company do with their first FA period. A lot of intrigue for this one with not only the Redskins, but all the qbs, and Dallas taking care of their guys- Dak, Amari, and Jones.

I really want to see us nab Hooper/Henry long term. Just think it's a critical position and we have zilch there currently. Would totally help the offense. Is anyone else going to be surprised if we nab a stud te and a new bigtime receiver?
Should be intriguing.

It’s definitely the most excited I’ve been maybe since coming off the cousins playoff run year (2015?)...

My feelings is TE, CB and WR will be the most likely targets. I really feel like spending big at WR would be a mistake, but we will see

Who do you think Redskins will target for WR? Emmanuel Sanders and AJ Green are the ideal WR for Redskins to sign in my opinion but I don't believe they will consider Redskins since we are not even close to contenders just yet. I don't like Amari Cooper.. So I doubt we will be able to find a WR that will come in and take over the #2 spot immediately.

TE is a bigger need than WR.

I’m fine with our young trio of McLaurin, Sims and Harmon.

Why would anyone want AJ Green? Do not want him. He'll be hurt before week 1. Sanders is too old and Cooper is so overrated. Cooper wasn't even the best wr on the Cowboys. Gallup was. When it mattered the most Cooper came up small. I see why Gruden got rid of him. Dude is not a big time player.

Exactly. I wouldn't sign any wr's and go all in on a TE and a corner.

I don’t think Cooper is going anywhere. I like him, but don’t love the dude at what he wants...but more comfortable than doing that than below.

Sanders would be my choice but he wants to win a championship. But a two year 12 mil per would be ideal...but he will go to a contender.

Demarcus Robinson is a guy I like but he is gonna get a strong Paul Richardson-like contract. I like the guy, but not paying him like that.

Would Perriman come here for a 1 or 2 year deal prove it deal ala Pryor a couple years ago? Meh..I rather not do that...but it’s a safer deal than Robbie Anderson at a 40 million deal imo.

AJ Green injury is really scary at what he wants...pass.

I’d rather pay Amari Cooper if we are going to be stupid...but I’d hold off and see if a cut vet WR a decent price or spending that 3rd or 4th round pick on a WR.

My shopping list:

Re-sign Scherff and Flowers
Get Cory Littleton (best TE coverage LB)
Hunter Henry
Kendall Fuller
Logan Ryan
Replacement RT, get rid of Moses.

I certainly agree TE is probably our biggest need along with CB. While I like Harmon, I don’t think he is a starter now but a developing piece going forward.

Sims has awesome chemistry with Haskins and obviously Terry is a beast.

Can we hit in the draft with a 3rd, 4th pick again at WR with a deep draft? I like to try that over Free Agency.

I like your list, especially the first 3. I would be really surprised if Chargers doesn't resign Henry but if he is available then Redskins should go after him. I think he is worth good money compared to Hooper. I would try to find a WR in draft instead of FA..

I think Logan Ryan is next best available if we can't sign Byron Jones. Also we need to Tre Boston, we cannot go into the season with Nicholson as starter.

Re: 3/18 @4pm NFL Free Agency & Trading Period

I wouldn’t dump money this year in the WR market. Get us a good long term deal with Hooper or Henry at TE. Sign Byron or Bradberry, extend our guards, sign Vaitai from the eagles and ditch Moses. LB market is poor so add some depth and move on. Lastly give me a couple year deal to either Boston or Vernon Hargreaves. And then leave the rest in Kyle smiths hands to set us up with another well played draft. I just don’t wanna see us dump money and fall back into our old ways with picking up older FA. Keep going younger while adding quality at positions of need. If we can give Haskins a quality TE that can stay on the field. I think our WR corps will be just fine for the best season outcome we can have.

Would be fine with this . Bradberry ( CB ) and or Boston (S) depending on who we could sign . I don't want to go big in FA this year , and have some $$$ problems 3-4 years down the road . I want to start winning first , then get guys who want to be part of a winner

IMO Tre Boston is a perfect fit for the Skins. On the other hand, Bradberry isn't even a league-average CB.
