Re: The Best and Worst Of Our Future

Are people really that consumed with cell phones they will wait in line for days to buy one. How the hell do you get off work for a few days to buy a stupid a$$ phone. This should be on stupid news not national coverage.

i agree with you on shutting down facebook, i dont think that falls within his right. I would have simply given her the max penalty for DUI and fine. 6 months jail time, loss of license, 500 hours community service, max fine i think is $2,500...I think that sends stronger message than shutting down facebook.

Re: The Best and Worst Of Our Future

The Judge could have said something along the lines of: "If you shut down the facebook page making light of drunk driving, I will consider it an act of contrition when fashioning your sentence. If you don't, I will consider that when determining your sentence."

Went to my daughters open house at school last night and only about 10% of the parents showed up. Wounder why our students are failing its the parents.

Are you saying that he could have done that instead of what he did? Because from the article (obviously not 100% gospel to the court proceedings) said that the judge "ordered" her to, and then when she didn't cited her with contempt. A contempt citing doesn't seem to fit the way you described it.

Re: The Best and Worst Of Our Future

@Cred - If he sent her to jail for contempt, then it would seem to me that would have to be for failing to comply with an order to shut it down. Not sure where he gets the authority to do that - while stupid, doesn't strike me as illegal. At the same time, trial judges have a lot of discretion in their sanctioning authority.

Gotcha. I agree with the way you said it in your earlier post, Judge could have given her the option, and used her choices at the sentencing. Making it an order, then citing contempt just seems the wrong way to go about it to me.

Worst having to need one of these.

The HomeDNA™ Home Paternity Testing System is a premium 16-marker DNA test - the most powerful standard DNA test in the industry. The 16 genetic markers we analyze include same 13 markes used by the FBI and other law enforcement agencies for human DNA identity testing.
