Smoke Signals: Put up or shut up, Carlos Rogers - DC Pro Sports Report

Quote:
This is the season for CB Carlos Rogers to become a star -- if he's going to become a star. He's in the final year of his rookie contract and he's being called upon to be a starting corner with no grizzled vet around to push him. Unfortunately, Carlos is missing practices due to a muscle strain in his calf. For the 9th pick in the draft a few years ago, this season is put up or shut up. Read it.

lol, and then what happens after the big deal. I gotta think at this point, Kevin Barnes was drafted to replace Rogers next year. Maybe I am wrong, but Roger was one of those picks that i will actually give Vinny Cerrato some credit on. And, and, if Barnes was drafted to replace Rogers, then I feel a glimmer of hope with the draft strategy, because for once, they looked into the future and drafted a future need than just take players for the sake of taking players, you know, like tons of fullbacks. If Barnes was drafted to replace Rogers, ten kudos for pre-planning. Keep it up.

rogers just can't seem to put it together for 16 games. first and foremost he needs to say healthy.

I think this is the year Rogers becomes the best he can be, it's just about health, can he or can't he stay healthy?

He should have, could have had about 8-9 picks last season if he knew how to catch.

I think he was one of the top cover -corners in the game last year , I read that TO-Fitzgerald and Ward avg'd 3 receptions / 40 yds when lined up vs Rogers .

no doubt the boy can play. i dont think he could could command top shelf money though. Something tells me that he's looking to get paid like an elite corner back and that may means he'll be parting ways with us next year.

If he started catching the ball he could lay greater claim to being elite.

I understand why this is a story but I have a feeling the last thing we will be worrying about this year is Carlos Rogers.
