Sounding now like Harbaugh isn't as interested in Michigan, or they aren't as much in him. And Schefter is reporting Lewis will stay in Cincy

OMG, your going to make some enemies. lol.

See it's all about stats and the defense was ranked close to last stat wise. Who cares about turnovers, or points allowed.

I think it's Cowher's for the taking. It's close to home, he seemed to be waiting for the job to open and he has been reportedly telling people he's about ready to come back to coaching.

Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves

Carolina simply won't offer enough to Cowher. Yes, if he says "I'll coach Carolina for 3M a year", it's his. Carolina won't pay more than 4M (if that) for a coach. They paid 6M to Fox this year and one columnist (who I have forgotten, I think it was Clayton or Shefter) indicated that the owner was never going to pay top dollar again.

It may be close to home, but Cowher can probably get 5M from somebody ... I'd move for an extra 2M, wouldn't you?

The best fit would be Carolina if Luck comes out, unfortunately they are more concerned with cash than winning. I don't want to see Harbaugh go to SF as I hate the 49ers and their fans. I put up with a lot of shit during the 80's. He would make them instant SB contenders.

I'd move or simply rent an apartment. Maybe it's just me but I really wonder if perhaps Carolina's owner has already spoken with Cowher a year ago and somewhat agreed on a price range. Almost everyone knew this was going to be Fox's last year to include himself. Now no one will admit it and everyone will say nothing is definit which is true but if I remember correctly there was talk of the Panthers owner having talked with Cowher and he said something to the fact that he would not come back to coaching yet. At the time I thought it had something to do with Fox's contract and possibly having one more year which was why Cowher said no to taking the job.

In any event I probably would take a job for a few mill less if it was closer to my home also.

Actually Turnovers are crucial and Points matter more than yards last time I checked

I'm sorry I forgot the sarcastic smiley. :yeahright Will this one do?

All I keep reading is how Haslett needs to go cause the defenses stats suck. Then you come along and present something nice about the defense. All I'm saying is watch out for the Haslett haters who want to throw stats at you. Thats all.

If the fans are bound and determined to always be at square one, then by all means, call for the firing of Haslett.

I'd prefer to stick with him, get him some better personnel, and build a foundation for once.

Also, for everybody upset all year long over the switch to the 3-4: Wouldn't this have been the best year to do it? When the playoffs were out of reach anyway? Suppose we were to change over to the 3-4 in year two when things theoretically are coming together?

No doubt about it. Had we been drafting guys to fit a 4-3 last year and this year we decided to switch, we're right back to square one with 3+ rookies not having any idea what they're doing.

As for those thinking Carolina won't give Cowher the right amount of money.. I highly doubt that. We're talking about a team that won TWO games! Think of the fans right now, they're laughing at management and the whole team. It's just like us last year, had we gone with a younger coach and finished this year at 6-10, we have no idea what to expect. Carolina needs to get a guy who can lead the team in the right direction and who can evaluate talent at the highest level. The owner saving 2 million per year will get a lot worse with the wrong coach.

If Cowher ends up in Carolina at 5M/year or if Cowher accepts 3M/year to coach in Carolina, I will walk nude from Sean Salisbury's house to FedEx in February.

Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves

Cowher's "short list" of teams he would be willing to leave retirment for: New York Giants, Miami and the Houston Texans.

"The report says Cowher is ready to return to the sidelines after a four-year break from coaching. He listed the Dolphins, Houston Texans and New York Giants atop his list of teams he could consider coaching next season, the report said." ESPN: Dolphins on Bill Cowher's short list - Sun Sentinel.

Don't see Carolina on any the list.

Urban Meyer to return miraculously-fast from "medical" leave AGAIN to coach the Tebow-led Broncos?

Why not?

Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves

Todd Bowles to interview for HC with Cowboys and talks with Marvin Lewis and Bungles broke off, don't look good for his return there. Adam S. reported this.
