Re: Skins-Vikings post game

I know the Red Zone scoring is an issue and coming away with four FG's is never a good plan. BUT ...

This was (and still is) the number one scoring defense in the league. The 26 points we scored against them was the most scored against them all year. (In their first five games no team broke 20 pts.; in their three prior losses Philly got 21; Bears got 20; Detroit got 22).

Also, we only started with a "short field" once the entire game - after P. Smith's Int. Even then, we took over at our own 42. We did not start a drive in their territory all game.

Here are our possessions:

Starting Field Position: Wash. 32 -- TD
SFP: W8 (TD)
SFP - W21 (Punt); Three Plays; 0 yards.
SFP - W22 (Punt); 4 / 12
SFP - W25 (Fumble); 1 / 7
HALF
SFP - W33 (FG); 12 / 55
SFP - W32 (FG); 11 / 49
SFP - W8 (FG); 7 / 60
SFP - W42 (FG); 8 / 32
Last Possession - Kneel down.

Sure - we need to punch in TD's. BUT ... getting four solid, point-producing, second half drives against this D is nothing to entirely disparage.

Minnesota's leading rusher (McKinnon) had 16 yards on six carries. As a team, they had 47 rushing yards. Eleven of those yards were by a WR on an end around - so 36 yards from your RB's.

I know their running game sucked going in to the game, but those are ridiculously bad numbers.

Im so impressed with the defense...Say what you will, but Ive been way more impressed with the defense than the offense this year. Less talent on that side of the ball...The offense seems so erratic, turnovers in the red zone, lack of scoring touchdowns the in red zone, the lack of offense balance, etc.

I remember many years where we dreamed of getting field goals on the majority of our drives, it amuses me how far we have gotten that now we are mad we don't score touchdowns.

Yesterday while 23-20 we're driving with 3 minutes left, trying to get into FG range, and we hit Garcon a couple times on that drive.

You can tell the coaching staff and Cousins treat him as the clutch, big-moment, we-have-to-get-a-first-down receiver.

Looking more and more like it makes sense to let Jackson go and keep Pierre. I love the guy.
I also wonder if there was a lot of tension in the huddle when Jackson was in the game. It felt like Cousins was more instinctual this game without feeling the need to force a few to Jackson.

Su'a Cravens' increased reps help D; second-half success - Washington Redskins Blog- ESPN

Redskins defensive coordinator Joe Barry said they were going to increase Su’a Cravens’ reps and that’s what happened Sunday. Cravens played a season-high 35 snaps – and even saw time at outside linebacker. That’s where he was aligned when he shot through and recorded a tackle for a loss in the first half. The Redskins had three down linemen, but one of them was Trent Murphy on the right side (with Ryan Kerrigan behind him). Another time when Cravens was aligned here, he shot up and took on the pulling guard three yards deep, helping hold a run to one yard. You can’t use this alignment vs. every team, but Cravens’ quickness provides a different look from this spot. Give the coaches credit for tapping into Cravens’ versatility (though this is why he was drafted in the first place). They’ve expanded his role and he keeps playing well. By the way, Mason Foster has been rather steady of late, and that's been a positive development.

I have him on my fantasy team. The guy sucks period. AP is basically it for their running game. He needs to leave Minn if he wants a ring.

We all want td's. But also the Vikings do have one of the top defenses in the NFL. To get 26 against them when no one else has done that this year is pretty damn good.

It's just continuing frustration watching the same mistakes over and over. Minny is a solid defense...I'll take the win.

Watching cincy and Giants...how in the fuck did we lose to cincy? These guys are fairly terrible.
