Re: Redskins Offseason Thread

You would think with the invention of the high definition TV, and essentially having the best seat in the house every Sunday (your own living room or man cave), that NFL owners would be struggling to fill seats - so much so that ticket prices would naturally fall. I mean, even if I lived 5 minutes from the stadium, I'd rather watch on TV. Maybe I'm in the minority on that, I dunno? It's nearly like being there anyway with the resolution, and without having to sit out in the weather. You can cook your own hot dogs and buy your own 12 pack of beer for a third of the price you'd pay at the stadium. Sure, you're not taking part within the atmosphere of the stadium and all, but that's not a big deal to me. Install some surround sound speakers in your man cave to make it sound as if you're sitting in the stands.

Of course, having said that, I WOULD have liked to have went to a game at RFK, as I've heard that was an experience unlike any other.

Going to a live game is fun but it's also tiresome by the end of the game, esp if your team lost. I try and go to 1 game a year, but this year I'll be going to OU @ WV instead of a skins game. College games are fun. In Norman they dont sell beer and I think that is great, if you want to get hammered and watch a game stay at home IMO. Too much shit goes down in these pro games due to beer.

Beer good. Me like. Drink much beer. Watch game. Cheer loud. Forget troubles. Eat hot dog, too. Very nice.

Re: Redskins Offseason Thread

I agree that going to a game once in a while is fun, but regularly doing so would be a hassle. I had season tix about 10 years ago. They were somewhere between 1.5 and 2K a pop (I think - sure felt that way) and, once you buy them, its hard NOT going to games without feeling like you are wasting a ton of cash. Scalping Skins tix in the mid 00's was not exactly profitable or even a break even experience. Generally, the only games worth selling were the games I wanted to go to myself.

On top of that, since I live in Baltimore, going to a game is really an all-day Sunday thing by the time you drive, park, walk to the stadium (reverse on the way out). For a while I enjoyed it, but, now, meh - I'll just watch on my big screen. If tix are offered and it's relatively convenient time-wise, I'll go but it's just such a hassle.

As for Fed Ex, I went to RFK and Fed Ex. RFK was a rickety, broken down arena but damn it felt like home - it was loud, close and you felt part of the action. I have sat in all over FedEx and, unless you are in the lower bowl, along the sideline, and within 20 - 30 rows of the field, may as well watch on TV. There is just nothing special at all about FedEx.

Yeah, I missed out on RFK, but you're right. Aside from the club seating where the fancy restaurants and bar areas are at, there's nothing about Fed-Ex that makes me excited about going.

Family has had season tickets to the Giants since the Polo grounds and I love the Meadowlands,i use to go to as many games as I could you could always see so much more of the game,it was great. But seriously the drunks started to ruin the game for me.Why people spend that much money on tickets and you intern get so shit face you don't know what happen and then you have ruined the experience for any child in the area. You guys know I enjoy a beer but to me it should not be allowed at sporting events.

I agree, but it's too much of a cash cow for the franchises. It ruins the experience for me. I'm all about getting a hot dog or a pretzel, but I don't need the beer. I'm plenty fine drowning my sorrows after the game is over, lol!

Re: Redskins Offseason Thread

Story of the old Meadowlands , in 2003 I went to a Giants /Redskin game in Dec ....the Skins won, easy. It had snowed the night before heavy and since the Giants season was toast it wasn't a full house.By halftime the entire stadium was on the first level ,it was me and the ushers in the mezzanine and it was great ,Bruce Smith was Killing Kerry Collins but it had to be one of the best times I ever had at a game that they lost. I swear it was the first and only time I ever walk to my car got in and left with no traffic.

That is one thing I HATE about Fed-Ex. There's like one exit out of the stadium from what I remember, and it's impossible to get out when the game is over. On the flip side, one thing I DO like about the Panther's stadium not having a parking lot is that you can easily get out once you get back to your car. You just might have to walk several blocks back to the parking garage.

Another reason I hated that place, me and the wife sat in the parking lot for a good 45 mins before we moved, so stupid.

Re: Redskins Offseason Thread

Look out for Matt Ioannidis to have a HUGE year with the addition of Payne, in fact I think he could very well be our best DLman.
"In Week 3 of last season, the Redskins demolished the Raiders; Matt Ioannidis played a part in that, making solid Guard Gabe Jackson have arguably the worst pass blocking performance of his career to date."

But remember - that was the game that Oakland's Oline decided to punish their qb.
