2008 Redskins - Exit, Stage Left
2008 Redskins - Exit, Stage Left
Dec. 26, 2008 The Washington Redskins will play the San Francisco 49ers at Candlestick Park on December 28, 2008, in their final game of this NFL season. After the final gun–win, lose or draw (Memo to DM: it happens)–53 men will trot off the field, make their way up the ramp to the visiting locker room, and peel off their burgundy and gold accoutrements for the last time. Said uniforms will then be whisked away, laundered, neatly folded ... and put in storage. The next time those hallowed threads take the field in earnest will be some seven-and-a-half-months hence, in early August 2009, when Washington plays its first preseason game of the new season. That actual date is not yet set in stone, but if past serves as prologue it will be on or about Friday, August 7, 2009. For those keeping score at home, that means ... CLICK HERE to read more |

I don't know what to say. "Once more unto the breach, dear friends." ??
A Henry V invocation to signify the end of our B&G in 2008? Wow. Kind of morbid, and yeah it kind of hurt. Look, we have plenty of things to look forward to on both sides of the ball. Sure, we have some things to work on, but I'm not too bummed. Yeah, no more Redskins football for a while, but I feel okay this year for whatever reason.

It's uncanny...no matter how disappointed you are, you can't wait for the next season

Re: 2008 Redskins - Exit, Stage Left
Nice article, but I feel like someone just stole my new puppy! LOL. I'm going to enjoy every minute of the Skins blowout victory over SF this week. Then I will start my countdown to the NFL Draft!
HAIL!!

Thanks, all ... and sorry to those who found it morose. Certainly wasn't my intent. I was mostly just looking to suggest to everyone, including myself, that Sunday against the 49ers should be treated more as a wake than a funeral.

Re: 2008 Redskins - Exit, Stage Left
Your right-on Om. Around March I start jonesing for my Redskin fix and it seems like they haven't played in a year. At least we can look forward to the draft and I'm looking forward, with high expectations as always, to seeing my favorite team being one of the top teams in the league. I always do, and I doubt I'll ever stop. Nice article.
