Re: Post Draft Thoughts

Magic Johnson did nothing but at least he stepped down on his own. He wouldn't have been fired, either.

Re: Post Draft Thoughts

I don't understand why Snyder still employs Allen. He has some solid people over there who are well respected in Schaefer and Smith. I do think having Doug Williams is a good thing simply because he's still loved in DC. But Bruce to me is just completely useless. No one likes the guy, he's not respected and no one trusts him. He's bad PR. I just don't get it. Smith and Schaefer must shake their heads as to why they're below such a disliked snake who is incompetent. If not for his last name Allen would be kissing some managers ass at an accounting firm.

Re: Post Draft Thoughts

I give the draft an A for the 'skins. Not only did they get the players they wanted but in the case of Haskins, they waited for him to fall into their laps without wasting later draft picks to move up and get him.

The Redskins drafted for need. The biggest need was at QB. Alex smith will never play again. We have a couple of scrubs behind him as the backup. So the Redskins got the best QB in the draft for this season's immediate hole and the future franchise QB for the next decade.

Sweat fell in the draft because of a misdiagnosed heart problem. The guy otherwise was a top-10 draft pick Edge rusher. We got him at 26. He will fill the hole left by Preston Smith, who really was just an average player anyway. Again, he fills an immediate need and a long-term starter. We now have a really good DL for the first time since the Gibb's years.

I really like that we went with a couple of picks for WR, because it was one of the worst groups on the team. I still don't know why we let a 1,000 yd speedster like Desean Jackson go, who will now be playing against us for the Eagles. At some point, the front office will have to admit that Dougherty was a flop pick, but because our WR corps is so weak we'll have to endure another mediocre year of watching him mis-run his routes or drop the ball. The WR's are another year of draft picks or FA from being good.

Best Redskins draft in years! Hail!

Re: Post Draft Thoughts

I just heard on SiriusXM radio an interview with Bruce Allen. He talked about getting a player from their farm team down in Alabama. Lol

He also mentioned that Love was checked out by James Andrews, same guy that did Darius Guice and Adrian Peterson's knee and they were satisfied with the medical report. They also rank their draft board based on how they think the player will do over the course of their contract (in this case for years) not just the first year.

And we all know how you're a model of restraint. (Not that I should be throwing that particular stone.)

FWIW, I completely agree with you. Oh, and Allen has a really punchable face.

(See what I did there?)

You are correct, but I don’t care who BA’s dad is - he is not even remotely close to Redskin royalty as Magic is to Laker royalty. Now firing Riggo - different story.

Most of the press grades for this draft have the Redskins at an A or B. Some even admitted that they were surprised that Dan Snyder's influence in this draft (supposedly Haskins pick) had a positive effect.

Was about to post the same... I could understand B+ if you're really cold on Haskins... But C ? That warrants an explanation.

About grades though, on yesterday's podcast, Sheehan did a review of the recent Redskins' drafts' grades, and while we all felt it was the first time in a while everybody admitted we drafted really well, 3 of our 4 last drafts were given a majority of As and Bs.

But the two 1st rounds, the trading a late 3rd for two 4th, the Sweat and late rounds steals, and the finally drafting 2 promising OGs make this one feel different.

Re: Post Draft Thoughts

Haskins will have to be a wait and see but the deal for Sweat was a great move ,I thought the Skins did well in the draft.

Re: Post Draft Thoughts

I think Snyder keeps Allen around as a shield to take some of the aggro. Can't help thinking he may be setting things up to promote Williams or even Smith to GM and move Allen into a VP type role.

I liked everything bar the Love pick, and even then I don't hate it. If the medics are right and he's progressing nicely, he could be ready to see action later in the season and probably cover for CT going down again. Solid A from me.

Interesting look at what the 53 man roster might look like:

thanks for posting

It would be great to release V Davis post June 1 and move the other two up. That Free Safety position is a huge glaring need...they need to sign someone there asap.
