AJ Hawk is more like a Brady James than anything else

Compared to Rocky McIntosh? Hell yeah. We have to find a replacement for that bum.

Still, there's a fairly solid consensus is that Hawk has been a bit of a letdown.

I think we're going to draft Jenkins the DE out of Clemson and then trade back 7 million times.

Fug Jamie Dukes.

This kid smashed Michigan last year. He had 10 solo tackles, including 5 for losses with 4 sacks, two fumbles forced and one recovered. I think he'll be aight.

Yeah, but they didn't have a mobile QB.

Backup Excuse: They weren't an SEC team.

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan

On a team that needs a tackling machine, someone with good fundamentals, this kid fills that need. He had a lot of tackles for losses, which is a good thing.

But he didn't play in the SEC.

Is Alexander going to play DE? Kerrigan is going to do wonders for our DBs.

They might keep Lo as a reserve OLB. Lo was alright last year, but he isn't blessed with the athleticism Kerrigan has. But still, he didn't look lost at all.

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan

Ryan Kerrigan is the anti-Albert Haynesworth - - and that is a GOOD thing.

Haynesworth has a ton of talent and zero work ethic/hustle/leave it all on the field.

Kerrigan has some talent but hardly what the elite players at his position have but he will bring all of it to bear on every play.

Ryan Kerrigan will be just fine...

Former coach: Skins' top pick Kerrigan never stops impressing | John Keim | NFL | Washington Examiner

Quote:
"The one thing that separates him from the other guys who have come through here is that he has a tremendous, relentless motor, a nonstop motor, and that's the one thing that pushed him over the edge," Emanuel said.

Quote:
"He had a thirst for knowledge," Emanuel said. "And most defensive linemen at the college level could only tell you about their position. He could put the whole defense up and draw up the linebackers and the secondary."

Emanuel raved about Kerrigan's hands and his ability to stay low when rushing. But the question is can Kerrigan adjust to playing a 3-4 outside linebacker after playing a 4-3 end at Purdue? Emanuel said they often had Kerrigan work on dropping into coverage in practice. Rarely did that happen in games -- with good reason.

"The biggest reason we didn't drop him is because he was so good rushing the passer," Emanuel said. "But he could do it easily because he's a smart player. He's a complete player."

One scout agreed with Emanuel.

"It's very, very overrated and overblown of 3-4 outside linebackers having to drop and cover," the scout said. "Ninety percent of the time they're rushing the quarterback, and that's something this guy can do. He's not a one-trick pony."
