Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread

I am not sure what the big deal is with the amount of money tied into guard. It is a lot but we have the cap space this year might as well use it. Plus both BS and EF are likely gone after this year. I really don't see them picking up 2022 on Flowers unless they view him as BS replacement next year,

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread

Maybe the plan is to move Scherff, or finally sign him to a LTD, or cut other guys, I dunno. Either way I could care less about the $$. Until we see the final plan come together I'll hold off on saying we spent too much at guard or not.

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread

Could be missing something but doesn't this mean we will probably not sign an OL at 19?

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread

for the accountants here

@Adam Schefter
To make his trade to Washington from Miami official, OL Ereck Flowers restructured his contract whereby the Dolphins will pay $6 million in a signing bonus and Washington will pay a $3 million base salary, giving Flowers $9M fully guaranteed this year, per @DrewJRosenhaus

This.. It's comical how some people act as if it's their own money or the contracts are preventing WFT from signing more players. As long as it doesn't hinder the team's ability to sign FA players, who cares?

Hmmm so I guess we didn't tie up much financially in acquiring him. This changes a lot of the conjecture about how much we have tied up in the interior line.

People really need to learn to wait and get all the info before they ...

I would never do that .. I mean, not recently

Big win if he's only costing us $3 million.

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread

One interesting tidbit that has no effect on the Redskins or the Dolphins but does on Fisher is that $6m Miami paid him for this year will not be subject to State Taxes.

Spotrac's updated page shows it costing us $3M this year, 10M next year. With the restructure, Miami splits the dead cap between this year and next $5/$3.

What I like also is that if Flowers agreed to the restructure, he likely signed off on coming back to Washington. They likely wouldn't outright cut him and take the whole hit at once.

Another solid move. I don't think it changes the draft plan though.

He comes cheaper than his first stint in 2019, and will compete for a starting spot. The O-line is deeper now.

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread

As for no longer drafting guard at 19 only one I've seen mentioned before was Tucker and he is still an option as he plays tackle very well as well.

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread

That's a big win for us, wise cap wise and gives us a really solid LG. He played well for us, good move from a culture standpoint too IMO : he has to pumped to comeback play for the team that, as was said here, saved his career !
