Doing what?

The whole sleep deprivation thing makes sense. They did research with navy seals and showed that the more sleep deprivation training they went through the more mistakes they made but the longer they were sleep deprived the more confident they were they were doing things correctly. They basically were making grave mistakes in life and death situations but confident they were doing things right.

EB is so sleep deprived he doesn't even know he is screwing up.
