Unpopular and maybe crazy opinion:

Bill Belichick goes unsigned this season.

Really surprised that he has really only been linked to the Falcons.

Does the league feel like 72 is too old to "start over" and build around? Or do they feel that maybe Belichick will ask for too much power? Or worse yet, could it be the league feels like maybe Belichick only won the 6 rings because of Tom Brady, and you can see what he has been without Brady?

Re: Conference Championships - Around the NFL

I think his age plays a role and the fact that he hasn't done shit without TB12

and he wants total control and has proven he is poor at acquiring talent! if he would just coach and let a proper GM pick his talent he could be great . . . thats not what he wants. Or at least thats what i have read/heard.

Bill Belichick and his $25m per year salary is an easy pass if I’m a team owner.
Top rated HCs are making $12-15m per year.

If I’m going for a veteran HC, I get Pete Carroll.

The only place that really makes sense for BB to me is the Cowboys. You have an owner that is on the clock at 81 years old and you have a known commodity at QB. This is the type of situation BB would do well in.

BB made TB12 the QB he became and I'm pretty sure TB12 without Belichick is not that successful with some of those NE teams. Not taking away anything from Brady, but he did go to a stacked Tampa team, and that's one of the reasons he was so successful there.

Aside from Brady leaving, there are two additional reasons why BB did not succeed in this last years in NE:

* Although BB had final say in personnel, he was never able to get the QB of the future while Brady was still on the team. Brady was opposed to this (see Jimmy G's being traded away) and ownership never allowed BB to get his QB of the future.

* BB was/is a terrible GM. He succeeded in NE because of TB12 and his coaching, but they whiffed on a number of first round picks and for a while they always traded out of the first round for no reason.

BB in Dallas would be Parcells part 2. I really hope it happens, because it would be a hilarious train wreck.

Ben Johnson will be the guy.. Otherwise they would have hired someone by now.

I don't know if I would agree with that. BB wouldn't have to go through the QB search the way Parcells did. If McCarthy can get a team to 12-5 I think BB would be capable of a deep playoff run with the same roster but anyways it is a moot point. They are sticking with McCarthy
