They will draft a QB now, there is no way around that

Stop gap if we can’t trade for Wilson or trade up in the draft. If we get one of those guys we can cut Kyle Allen for peanuts and carry QB 1, Fitz and Heinicke.

Or plan B is just roll with Fitz and the plan is to get their franchise guy next year via FA or the draft.

Or plan C is they expecting Heinicke to win the starting job and Fitz is insurance if Heinicke gets hurt.

Either way I don’t hate it. Someone who is clearly a 1 year commitment at a low cost point. Can’t hurt to hedge your bets.

If they draft someone, Montez is gone for sure. And either Allen or Heinicke are gone too.

I agree, I think we have to draft a QB now.

I think you draft a 2nd 3rd or 4th round qb that your scouts are high on. I think the draft falls like this now:
1st LB that they hope controls the middle of the field
2nd CB or best Qb
3rd TE/OL/S

I still assume we sign a WR in the next two days

10 million for a starting QB isn't too shabby.

Uhhh I would say Allen is gone. $886 tendered RFA offer. Heinicke just signed a $8.75 mil deal.

I would predict Heinicke to beat out Allen. So I think he stays, but a lot of his contract was incentive based.

They just cut Sean Davis last year with at least as much guarantee money.

That he needs better insider access.

Or maybe that there’s little point in guessing. This time of year drives me crazy with the rank speculation.

ESPN is not the best source for info. But Washington has been lucky to have John Keim. I respect that guy. He is definitely one of, if not, the best beat reporters we have.

I'd love to buy him some beers and have him spill the beans about ESPN.

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021

FitzMagic is a one year bandaid. He will help us get a very good WR in FA.

Very good move. If Taylor Heinicke is good enough he could beat Fitz out.

I don’t think the WFT will go for the top WR in FA. Galloway is just too much money for one player. But the biggest FA signing will be at WR.

We will use the #19 draft pick for OT. We need talent, youth and longevity in the OL. I see us drafting at OT. and OG in the first four rounds.

We’ll also draft for CB and LB.

By getting a very good, but reasonable WR to balance McLaurin, then the team can get a good TE #2 FA to go with Thomas.

We’ll also spend some decent money at LB and FS in FA.

BETTER to get five good to very good FA players at WR, LB, FS, CB and TE than to blow it all on the most expensive WR in FA.

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021

Agreed. But it will be a tough choice if one of the better (best>?) QB's IS still available at #19. But this gives us the freedom to go for a lower pick like Mond and still reinforce the LB, OL and CB positions. If that QB pick washes out, we pick again next year.
