Interesting Angle on HoF Game

It is no secret that John Elway and Dan Reeves had more than a few "issues" between them when both men were with the Broncos. Elway is the reason Reeves was fired there and Reeves made no bones about saying Elway was an immature brat.

Elway will be inducted into the HoF this year and he has invited Reeves to be his guest at the ceremony and Reeves has accepted. Both men seem to want to put all this stuff in the past.

Even more interesting is the story that John Elway was on the verge of being traded - to the Washington Redskins - in 1990 but the deal fell through at the last minute. Joe Gibbs won Super Bowls with mediocre QBs like Theisman and Rypien and Williams. Imagine what he might have done with John Elway!

Sorry, forgot to add this to the original posting. Here is a link to an article in the Denver Post about all this stuff...

I know Elway is one of the best qbs of all time, but I'd still rather of had theisman, rypien, and williams as our qbs.

I was never a big fan of Elway for some reason.

Still, it's interesting to hear how close he was to becoming a Redskin. I remember hearing about that a few years ago and I was just like 'wow', that would have been crazy!

Elway is one of my favorite QB's from all time. I actually liked all of the " 1983 " class. Looking back though, I would have rather had Darell on our team and had things the way they were.

that class was amazing and I think if marino had had a rb like terrel davis to help him win a SB sometime during his career with the dolphins, he would be a more serious contender in the argument of the best qbs of all time. its kinda weird that with all of his stats, people generally don't even include him in the top 5 qbs of all time.

does anyone know what the proposed deal was back then for elway?
