Best of the Decade: Washington Redskins players

Best of the Decade: Washington Redskins players (washingtonpost.com)

I'm guessing Cooley or Taylor will take this award, probably Taylor

Re: Best of the Decade: Washington Redskins players

i'd prolly have to give it to chris samuells because of how long he played and how good he was.

ST will get a lot of votes because he was so good and spectacular at what he did. For the long haul, Samuels and Cooley have been very consistant.

Re: Best of the Decade: Washington Redskins players

It will be a Sean Taylor vs Chris Samuels final (at least it should be)...

Chris Samuels probaboly should win the award, I'd guess Sean Taylor probaboly does win it (i'll probaboly end up voting for ST, just cause he was my favorite player)

I agree with Gmanc, my vote would toss up between Samuels & Taylor. Samuels because of his longevity and stellar play at the most vital position on the O-line.

There are several players a good case could be made for. Mods: Maybe a poll is in order.

Sean Taylor
Clinton Portis
Champ Bailey
Jon Jansen
Chris Cooley
LaVar Arrington
Chrie Samuels

you've listed som good players but i think most skins fans will feel............

taylor-just an awesome player, could have been the best ever at his position, fan favorite. (could easily win)
portis-pretty good player, too inconsistant, getting on peoples nerves lately. (not gonna win)
bailey-awesome while he was here but ultimately he come across as a traitor. (not gonna win)
jansen-pretty good player, had a good run of consistancy, but if the award is gonna go to an o-lineman ,it's gonna be samuells. (not gonna win)
cooley-awsome player,great guy,fan favorite. (has a shot at winning)
arrington-close to awesome while he was here, fan favorite fo a while but fell out of grace with the front office, the coaches and alot of fans, plus he kinda left on bad terms. (not gonna win)
samuells-awesome player, steady as a rock, very consistant. (could easily win)

You get no argument from me. I believe Samuels & Taylor will get the majority of the votes

I like that Albright is on the list, someone has a sense of humor.

The guy has been a rock at long-snapper though.

Re: Best of the Decade: Washington Redskins players

what about making a best starting 22 of the decade? anyone want to give that a go? and i think the best player of the decade alone was probably samuels, champ, or jansen.

Re: Best of the Decade: Washington Redskins players

I dont think Portis should be player of the decade. He's only been here since 2004, and he's been very inconsistent.

2004: Good Year, only missed 1 game to injury
2005: Great Year, Playoffs, 16 games
2006: Horrible Year, injured reserve
2007: Solid Year
2008: 1st half great year, second half poor.
2009: Physically Done. Shot. Terrible Year

So out of the 6 seasons Portis has been here, he has been relevant really in only 3 of them.

I would rather go for Chris Samuels or Sean Taylor. Those guys win hands down...

Using your same criteria for CP, Sean Taylor shouldn't get it either. He was only relevant on the field for about 3 years himself. Chris Samuels for me

Re: Best of the Decade: Washington Redskins players

I have a question though, if S. Davis and C. Bailey are on this list, WTF isn't Darrell Green on it? didnt Davis and Green leave after the 2002 season and Bailey after the 2003 season?

I think in a decade where the Skins didnt have any really great players Samuels has to get this award for his high level of play and his longevity.
