Re: If you could make 1 change...
New Owner and Stadium, hell even a new Logo is fine. We need to start fresh

Re: If you could make 1 change...
I think I take back my initial answer and vote for a fairly officiated league.

Re: If you could make 1 change...
No to the name change - people need to get over this (and many other things). It all depends on the context of how it is said. It is a team name not meant to be racists way.... I can take many names from multiple sports and make them seem bad.. The pirates -, tell me what pirates did - r and pillage, Bucccaneers - well like the pirates..., the Indians, the braves, locally in VT some of the schools have changed thier names from Rebels to Wolves, Crusaders to Red Hawks Hell I can say I'm offended from the cowboys and vikings name). i think I've made my point...
I would change the owner - who in turn would get a new GM who then would clean house |

If you could make 1 change...
We would have the best owner in sports.

Re: If you could make 1 change...
Name change idea: We go back (sort of) to Washington Braves. Keep all the logos, etc. (I have never heard anyone argue those are racist, unlike some other native-American based mascots).
And (this is where the idea gets bad), when we build a new stadium we can give away free beer with season tickets. Land of the Free (beers), Home of the Braves. |

Re: If you could make 1 change...
I don't know how there are so many Redskins fans (commenting on this post) who want a name change so badly? Are you really a Redskins fan if the team name is so offensive to you that you want it changed?

Re: If you could make 1 change...
The same way you can like anything else in life but still want something about that thing to be different.

Re: If you could make 1 change...
So change the name, change the uniforms... then the identity of the team is gone. So are you just a fan of the football team playing in DC?

Re: If you could make 1 change...
I agree. With all the player moves these days the only thing left for the fan to identify with is the name and the colors. Take that away and you take away the fans connection to the team. Seinfeld was correct, we are rooting for laundry.

Re: If you could make 1 change...
Change the owner.
Change of owner gets a new corporate and team culture. Bring in a new HC and a real NFL-experienced GM. Not a fake GM like Vinny Cerrato or Bruce Allen, who were just yes-men and frontmen who let Dan Snyder act as the GM from behind the scenes. The winning team gets back the fans and politicians Changing the owner gets you a new stadium, perhaps with a municipal / owner building deal. I like the Redskins name. But if thinking of a change go to CHEYENNE. It is two syllables, so it fits in the old song. Name of a REAL WARRIOR tribe versus just a generic phrase. Get to keep everything else about the Redskins.

And no, I am a fan of the team I have been following as long as I can remember watching football. My youngest daughter is named Sunny and she will tell you and anyone in her 2nd-grade class who will listen, that she was named after Sonny Jurgensen. Someone can think the team should be renamed and still be a fan. |

But what about the fact that most native Americans- according to polls - are not bothered by the name? What about the fact that there are literally Native American high schools whose nicknames are the Redskins? I totally understand where you are coming from. Racist crap bugs the hell out of me. I am just not sold on it being racist. |
