If that means switching back to a 4-3 I'm alright with that, we'd already have a good pair of bookend DE's in Kerrigan and Rak, plus I'd be more comfortable with Cofield as a DT in a 4-3. Let Riley take over the middle, slide K. Robinson and someone else to outside 'backers and then overhaul our secondary in FA.
Agreed Cofield, Bowen, Jenkins and Carriker (next season) might be better rotational DT's in the 4-3. Kerrigan would have to play SAM. Maybe put Bowen at LDE?

And cut Hall, keep the other secondary and LBs.

Devil's advocate on the "fire Haslett" quick fix:

That's pretty much what happened towards the end of his days in Denver, right? Every year, some defensive coordinator took the fall. One year, the figurehead GM (Sundquist) took the fall. Eventually, Pat Bowlen had to step in.

Beyond the scope of this thread. I would have liked them to hire Jim Schwartz, for the record.

I mean his overall record for the last ten years and complete lack of post season appearances are going to warrant the thought for sure.
I don't know about that. We have good pieces in offense and defense (front 7), the only thing we really need to fix is secondary. Don't forget, we lost few key players to injuries on both sides. As for Shanny, I have to agree with you that his record doesn't show much. But from what I am seeing from Redskins team, compared to last few years before Shanny era, the team is better now.

I'm not saying that the guys are throwing fists back there, but I can't imagine that it's not downright dreary back there some Sundays.
I think you probably nailed it.

Right, so just take care of the real problem up front, and start your search for a new HC tomorrow, right?

No. MS should not be fired during the season or after it. He gets 5 years.

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?

Yeah, let's fire him and hire Jeff Fischer.

New England Patriots vs. St. Louis Rams - Box Score - October 28, 2012 - ESPN

Doing a hell of a job in St. Louis. I mean his record is so much better than Shanahan's and he's definitely not getting waxed at home either.
