Skins Pre-Preseason Prediction Posts

With the first Preseason game this week, What season predictions is everyone feeling antsy to make, without seeing any live game action yet.

I'll start with a few wishful's

KC will top 4500yds and 35 TD's

Su'a Cravens will become a force in the middle of the field

Breeland and Norman will be the talk of the NFL talking heads by week 3.

and a negative or two

KC will see his INTs will climb over 20, including one 4 Int game

our Run Defense will be 25th or worse in the league, mainly because teams will choose to run and use TE's rather than challenge Breeland/Norman.

What does everyone else see as possible for this team?

Cooley echoed something from late last week on his show this morning about the offensive line.

Bostic was on with Walker and Mitchell and Bostic commented the guards, including Scherff, are soft, that they didn't want to hit anybody. Walker agreed and started calling for Nseke to get a shot at guard.

Cooley seconded the observation this morning that the guards have been soft in camp thus far.

This is huge because our run game (just like Dallas two years ago) can have a huge impact on our defense and of course the passing game.

I really believe our ability to run the ball will have the biggest impact on whether there is improvement from last year.

There is a big difference in hitting the D in camp versus the other color in a game. We will all see on Thursday if there is anything to it.

The second thing from the show this morning that is really disappointing is Cooley's comments on Doctson. Cooley says he has been a big disappointment in camp thus far beyond the injury and has doubts about whether he loves football based on his attitude.

I'm becoming concerned about him as #1 draft pick.

Re: Skins Pre-Preseason Prediction Posts

Skins go 8 and 8 facing a tougher schedule, but we see standout offensive line play and a somewhat improved defense. Cousins passes for almost 4,000 yards, but also throws 20 + interceptions mostly due to being forced to throw so much as we are frequently behind late in the games. Running game again struggles with no clear starter, but Matt Jones is serviceable and manages 800 yards rushing. Tag used on Cousins again next off season as Skins still don't know which way they want to go at QB.

I think this nails it. Do I want us to do well - yes. Do I buy into all the preseason hype (like every year) - yes. But the above summary is much more likely. Hoping we get D-line, C, OG, safety, OLB, RB - next year.

Former Hogs think everybody is soft compared to them and Cooley is full of it about Doctson.

BS soft?? Yeah right. Not buying that. Looking for him and Moses to take that next step hopefully. However wouldn't mind seeing TN get a shot at LG. He's been more than solid when he's been in there. He and Moses are very very large human beings. Lerib and Long are barely serviceable NFL players.

This team still has flaws. 7 or 8 wins is where I see things.

KC isn't going to throw 20 plus ints. Just stop with that nonsense.

20 picks would be almost doubling his total from last year, yeah I don't see that happening either.

FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | Adjusted Interceptions 2015

Really love this stat from football outsiders...they take a look interceptions, interceptions percentages and most important, how many times interceptions were dropped which should have caught and intercepted.

Basically, its an analysis of just how careless QBs are when throwing the ball. As we can see, Cousins did a damn good job last year. He improved versus the biggest obstacle of his career, interceptions and what was more amazing, he did it with a lack of a good Running game.

He would have to take a full step back to throw 20 int....its not impossible, but improbable.

Good point! He may well be one of our 5 best OL. I like your idea of giving him a shot to win the starting job at LG. I'll be keeping an eye on his play tonight with that in mind.
