Re: Predicting the final 53

I think the TE depth is much better this year than last. The fact is we got 2 rookies there who need to get work and experience. I’d rather be in this situation where we like two young guys enough than to trade for Zack Ertz.

The eye opener of where there is a roster issue, LB. We got 4 and this was a spot where everyone said after last year we need to get better. Welp we got 4 and one of those is Bostic. That’s a problem, especially considering that Davis will need time to grow.

Re: Predicting the final 53

I bet we add at least 2 LBS.

Roberts, RSJ, and Carter can't rest easy until kickoff on week 1. 2 out of 3 of those guys will likely be gone to make room for LBs.

Re: Predicting the final 53

Not necessarily, if they get the three LBs they cut back onto the PS they may rely on bringing one up each week to the game day roster as permitted by the rules. They may have just figured they stood a better chance of getting them to the PS than some of the guys they kept. I hope to hell though that isn't the case.
I think Toohill and maybe one other (Reyes?) will be sent to short term IR to facilitate signing new linebackers or even for resigning Peyton Barber to the 53 for that matter

Re: Predicting the final 53

Interesting, neither Jimmy Moreland or AGG were claimed on waivers, I am a little surprised but I suppose it is always a case of fans overrate the quality of the players on the back end of the roster.

AGG is on the practice squad, but Moreland isn’t. Moreland may have been claimed. Anyone know?

Moreland and Sharpe…anyone heard an update? I think they were the 2 best players cut yesterday sans Reeves.

The Washington Football Team trimmed its roster to 53 players on Tuesday. One of the biggest questions surrounding the initial 53-man roster was why Washington kept just four linebackers?

Washington coach Ron Rivera met with the media after the team announced the 53-man roster, and he was asked about keeping four linebackers. His response likely means Washington will continue to monitor the linebacker either through free agency or trade.

"We're not through with that position. It's a position we're constantly evaluating," Ron Rivera on the linebacker group, and only having four at the moment

— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 31, 2021

Late on Tuesday, Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network reported that Washington was one of two teams, along with the New York Jets, interested in veteran linebacker Benardrick McKinney.

Check out our Practice squad: apart from Moreland pretty much every noticeable cut has been brought back, AGG, Reaves, Barber, Martin, Bradley-King, Ismael, Danny Johnson... I don't think I've known that many names from our PS before

Moreland is back but on IR.

Must admit, most years I'd expect about 6-7 from our own camp roster plus 3-4 from other releases. This year they obviously haven't seen anyone else released that's better than our own guys. Hopefully that's a good sign.

Expanded practice squad is weird. Basically seems like everyone that made it to the last round before being cut gets added to the PS.

And teams go with the familiar and just bring back their own guys for the PS.

That is the half full approach. Must admit I look at from the half empty approach, I am amazed none of our roster (which I thought was talented) was valued by 31 other teams to bring them onto their squad. Only Steven Montez was given a spot, and QB is always overvalued. That none of the WRs or DL was taken says something, and it's not good.

That said the neutral portion of it is that our culture and team building is positive enough that if players had a choice of Practice Squads and teams, and I am sure some did, they chose to stay here.
