GOOD!

You can have a physical running game and a vertical passing game. You can have a vertical passing game "LED" by a power run game. It's not like you have to choose one of the two. I mean do you want to be a "non"-physical running team, or do you want to be a physical running team? Pretty easy answer if you ask me. Maybe all they are talking about is the same thing all of us have been talking about, which is they want to remake the offensive line so they can be more "physical". I'm ok with that. It doesn't mean they are going to stop throwing the ball to McLaurin, Dotson, etc. I think they realize the value in them, which is why McLaurin was extended and they picked Dotson in the 1st round.

It's easy to make something out of nothing with everything us fans have been through over the last two plus decades, but sometimes it's just not as bad as it may seem.
This is my favorite offense. Best of both worlds.

Re: Scott Turner Fired

Power running game does not equal how many attempts you run it.

You can have a power running game but still only run the ball 40% of the time. Power is a style, not a number.

Bobby Slowik could be an interesting name to consider.

I'd prefer Bobby Fastwik.

Lol. Thought about Blewitt as I was typing that. But honestly the guy started his career in Washington. Now the passing game coordinator for the Niners. Sounds about perfect to me.

Re: Scott Turner Fired

Please, please mean that Snyder is selling the team. Because it's basically official now, that Rivera is coming back in 2023. Hopefully this is essentially a 1 year prove it deal for Rivera to be retained by the new owner if we look good in 2023. I think the defense is pretty solid. Franchise or re-sign Payne, and draft a CB and LB. Possibly re-sign Holcomb.

Turning an offensive line from a sieve to functional will be way harder.

I'm on the Howell train and I think any O.C. will be an upgrade over Turner.

So if you can keep the defense solid and fix the OL, 2023 can be a solid season imo.

I hope Rivera and Co. bring in a consultant or 12 to analyze possible OL players.

Rivera has had his entire career to prove it. He has proven that he finishes 80% of his seasons with losing records. I hate that he is coming back because he brings absolutely nothing to the table.

He's 35 and knows what a good offense looks like, I'd be all for him. I'd have zero complaints with that hire.

I don't love him coming back either. That's why I'm hoping his coming back means Snyder is selling because he doesn't want to pay his remaining contract and any new owner would very likely rather keep Rivera for a year then hire their own coach after 2023 if the season looks like 2020-2022. Rather than fire a new H.C. after 1 season.

But if somehow Rivera actually succeeded in fixing the OL, maintaining the D, and hiring an OC that helped us get to 9+ wins, he might stick around longer.

Re: Scott Turner Fired

With the state of our QB situation it only makes sense to want to RUN first and PASS second … now that would completely change if we had a big time gun slinger QB .. The 49ers have a real shot at a Super Bowl with a rookie QB (last draft pick) combined with a solid Run game and a TOP Defense.. sounds a little like what Ron wants to do. Gonna take a great OC to get us there ..

Re: Scott Turner Fired

Our team, with no other changes, has a 99% chance of being better next year simply by replacing Turner. So today was a good day:

But you have to factor in that our offensive line was fucking terrible at pass protection. They were so fucking bad at protecting the QB, by default we had to run the ball as much as possible.

Oh yeah!! How about Jay Gruden as OC, we know he’s good at that.
