It's cool man, as for Stallworth? I don't see him making the team. AA is better and Moss and Hank will be here obviously. Plus I still see another WR signing coming

Stallworth is another shining example of the [possibly foolish] "dual mandate" the FO is operating in. They're probably hoping he can play good special teams and be ok should the injury bug strikes. Hopefully, he gets cut unless his competition(Paul, Robinson, Kelly) proves themselves utterly incapable of contributing.

It's a 1-year deal for depth, don't make any more of it than it is.

I don't have a problem with the signing, there's no risk or damage done by it. In fact, I am glad they did not spend a lot on a WR because it's really not a big need, we are deep at WR.

Stallworth may not even make the team....don't get your panties in a knot and pile on with the media saying "Redskins are so stupid....durrrrrrr".

Re: Redskins sign WR Donte’ Stallworth to a 1 year deal

How much communication between team leaders and the FO is there? We drafted 3 WRs, signed moss, have AA, and are looking for a big time WR in FA. Signing Stallworth as a camp body seems unusual in my mind unless we pitched to him that he could very well make the team, which seems unlikely for us to do unless we believed it considering it would be pointless to lie, and it would create poor trust among agents. How many of our rookie WRs showed up at our team practices? Is it possible that it has been reported to the FO that one or more of our rookies simply aren't preforming?

I don't think the coaches would put much stock in what happened at those organized player practices. That wouldn't even be fair. The coaches want to see these guys up close and personal and have the chance to coach them up before they would write them off.

This is a pretty harmless move in my opinion. Let's not Chris Wilson it (who amazingly is becoming one of the more tenured Redskins it seems)

The fact it's a 1 year deal tells you everything you need to know. He knows, we know, coaches know, and his agent knows that this is basically a tryout.

Also, you have 3 rookie WRs, not many rooks perform well as WR in that first year.

Re: Redskins sign WR Donte’ Stallworth to a 1 year deal

They need(ed) to address the OL, CB, and QB situation (in the draft). Now it appears to be too late. Did they think it would be possible to address these issues with FAs? They'll probably sign McGahee...

Too bad you can't sign a monthly contract. LOL

Re: Redskins sign WR Donte’ Stallworth to a 1 year deal

I don't see harm in this versus something like the Moss deal. This is the Redskins bringing in a player that no one else really wanted.

This is the kind of deal that gets made in mid-June without a lockout, but now seems bigger than it is because it's being announced before the official start of free agency.

Stallworth probably looked at the situation and said other than Moss they have no consistent WR's why not go there.

Then 3 hours later, he's 8th on the depth chart.

Re: Redskins sign WR Donte’ Stallworth to a 1 year deal

Guaranteed Roster Spots
Moss
Hankerson
Armstrong

Fighting for the other 3 spots:
Stallworth
Gaffney
Robinson
Paul
Austin
Banks
Kelly

As of now we have 7 receivers fighting for 3 spots. I hope Robinson makes the team, I like everything I've read/watched about him so far.
