No, but not because of talent level instead because of length of contract and durabilty concerns.

I wish we knew who so my opinion of them could be a little lower.
This is just some of what Eric Flowers will do for your team.................

I feel pretty comfortable in saying that Flowers' only role with this team will be a backup guard - if he even makes the roster.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal

I am worried about Trent no being here. What is the plan?
To me, the only viable LT on the team is our current RT Moses....so could we roll with that and move sherrif from rg to rt? When drafted he was projected as a possible rt. We can fill in the guard slots with the 2 new draft picks. Is that a viable backup plan? I would be curious if they practice that way a few times. No one else on the squad could do LT in my eyes

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal

Trent will be there. His base salary this year is $11M, meaning each game check is $687,000. Plus he’s got roster bonuses due that pay him another $15,000 for each game he plays in, so essentially $700K per game.

That’s all his contract says he’ll get this season.

So even if Bruce plays a hardball game of chicken with him, Trent will be there week 1. It’s too much money to give up. He has no reason to show to training camp - why risk injury when you’ve got $700K per game coming. But he has every reason to be there week one.

And besides the team likely sees the sense in extending him some and giving him a bump in pay. Will it be enough to satisfy him? Don’t know, but he’ll be there week one.

The last guy to sit out games in a similar circumstance was Le’Veon Bell and his Jets contract didn’t end up making up the dollars lost by sitting.

We should trade Trent right now!

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal

Trent has tremendous leverage. If he does not play the Redskins do not have any back-up and will be lucky to win 5 games. Moses to LT and Sherff to RT will not work.... Moses is a mediocre RT and would be a terrible LT and Scherff was a bust at tackle as a rookie.

A RB is much easier to replace than a LT. Bell obviously made a foolish decision.

Uh, we still need a backup plan at LT, if Moses can't do it, who can??

You must be on the same drugs as those that coined that phrase.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal

I love Trent. If he doesn't wanna be here let him go.
He's aging and he's been hurt a lot.
He's a great LT and a tough one. I'd rather him be in DC
for life! I was hoping we'd draft an eventual replacement,,,

Is there a way to pay him more without extending him? Bonus money, perhaps? I really dislike the idea of extending the contracts of older players.
