Re: Camps, OTAs, Etc. Etc

Trent Murphy is looking huge and stout.

I saw an interview on Redskins Nation and have searched for the video without luck. (If anybody can find it please link)

I believe this transition is really going to work out. He isn't going to make the pro-bowl or anything but I believe he will be able to actually play well and contribute.

He isn't a fast twitch guy but has excellent reaction time to the snap, and really good football strength. He was dropping into coverage way too much last year which is his weakness. While playing at end, he will be able to go forward which is his strength.

I was one of the skeptics about this switch, but I agree...it sounds like he's adding most of the weight he needed. I've moved up to the 50-50 range on this working out now.

Would love Murphy to transition well, but it's hard to believe Baker at 333lbs and Murphy trying to get to 290lbs will have the same success against Olinemen who are 300-320lbs.

Re: Camps, OTAs, Etc. Etc

Murphy was already strong like bull, the extra weight should only help. He definitely has the frame for the extra bulk.

I agree, I think he has a chance to be a higher impact player along the line. In college his strength was his strength seems built more for a leverage player than one who is athletic in space.

Preston Smith on the other hand...he seemed to me to be a guy who was masterful and unsung along the Dline in college, but has shown the ability to transition as more of an "in space" pass rusher type. I would have never thought that...

Im hoping Trent can contribute, of course this is his very last shot to do so...

good stuff in here from Mike Jones. I think out of all the pick ups this year, Dave Bruton could be the surprise big contributor. Read several really positive things.

What stands out from the article is we are talking about a lot of depth guys who have the ability to step up. McC has simply been the dream GM we haven't had for 25 years.

I really feel the team has improved, but man, Vegas predicts our schedule will be the toughest in the league next year.
