Does the Post have a clue?

I was reading the Post this morning and specifically Nunyo Demasio's article and he said the Marcellus Wiley was one of the top defensive ends available and he was "surprisingly released" from the Chargers. What is this guy smoking? WIley was a huge cap hit and had 1 sack last year! are they comparing him to the High School kids that made themselves eligible for the draft? Is that what his year 2000 fantasy football guide said? Out here is San Diego, they couldn't wait to see this guy get released. That's all we need, another high priced, underachieving player.

Wow. I didn't realize he only had one sack last year. The only reason I've heard of Marcellus Wiley was that he was on one of those ridiculous Monday Night Football talent auditions where he participated in some sort of rap video.

Before your post, I was thinking he could be a worthy addition to the team.

Obviously, that'll teach me to do more research on a player rather than just depend on name recognition.

Not to be a nag but he actually had 3 sacks last year.

I think he was a bit of a surprise release because the Chargers didn't even try to have him restructure. And basically nobody really anticipated him hitting the open market.

I think he's worth a look, he's only 29 and a change of scenery could help him revive his once promising career. But the fact nobody has jumped on him yet could be telling.

I understand the intrigue, but watching him in San Diego the last couple of years, he has been absolutley worthless. I stand corrected, he did have three sacks but that's pretty meager from a pass rush specialist. He claims he was focusing on stopping the run but I didn't know that the two things are mutually exclusive. Everybody ran and threw all over the charges anyway!

from what I had seen the past couple years, he and LT were the only consistent players on the team and I've heard and read reports that one of the reasons he got cut aside from his cap # was the fact that he was a fan-favorite. I don't know if the people in the paper and whatnot feel differently than regular fans but I've been following the san diego pro teams since I moved from there and I've never heard anyone say anything like what u've said about him. but like I said I haven;t been there in years so I don't know how much is press hype and how much is the truth. I know i still wouldn't mind it if he was signed for a decent price but team officials have said they r only looking for a pass rushing specialist now.
