My 31 Stadium Journey comes to DC

Hello Warpath,
Over the last four years, I’ve been traveling to NFL stadiums across the country in an attempt to see a professional football game in each one, a feat I call the Quest for 31. My goal is to truly understand what it’s like to be a fan of every franchise in the NFL. As part of my immersive study on the home team experience, I show up early on gameday, tailgate with local fans, eat local foods, and wear a home team jersey to rally the home team to victory. After each visit, I summarize my weekend in an online stadium review which I then post on the website, www.nflfootballstadiums.com.

I’ve worn a head of cheese in Green Bay, put on shoulder pads and spiked arm guards in Oakland, swung a terrible towel overhead to rally the Steelers … I even proposed to my wife during an NFL game and had an NFL themed wedding. This weekend I’ll be in Nashville for the Titans-Rams game. Next weekend I'm in Washington DC to watch your Redskins take on the New York Giants at FedExField. I was wondering if you might recommend some superb Washington Redskins Tailgating outside of FedExField or some gameday traditions I need to make sure I check in on while I’m in town. Is there anything I need to get because its traditional Redskins gear or bars of restaurants I should hit?

You guys have no idea. It's been an incredible journey, traveling around the country, meeeting some of the best fans in the league, just absorbing NFL culture as it pertains to each region of the country. Thanks for the kudos on the site. Hopefully it's helpful to you if you plan travel to other stadiums.

Re: My 31 Stadium Journey comes to DC

it definitely helped me when we made our annual trip to another stadium this year, i hooked up with dan and the rest of the pantherfanz those were some good guys, we towed our "tailgate vehicles" down there and parked next to their bus.

as for the giants game we'll be in green some where around e43. it sucks at fedex this year everyone is trying to find a new home since they relaid out the parking lots. we no longer park where we used to but are trying to make a new home. i'll have about 20lbs of chili you can't miss the van and you'll hear the air siren when you are close

I've taken that stadium tour and it is pretty good. It's fun to check out the locker room and see what the owner's suites look like. One thing that really struck me as we did the tour though is that the stadium is really just like a close road game. They keep nothing there. Nothing in the lockers or training room. Nothing. They load up on Saturday and take big semitrucks over Saturday night and start putting the lockers together. It really feels like a visitors locker room the rest of the time. other than it's nicer and has actually color in it.

So you'd seen my site before the Panthers game? That's pretty cool. Nice to know it can be of some assistance to others.
