Without checking the stats, my first thought is Bill Cowher with Steelers.

What's amazing is Cowher had the success he did with QBs like Neil O'Donnell and Kordell Stewart. Cowher finally got a QB in Roethlisberger, that was the difference maker.

Define mediocre. Where I come from that is the same as average, to me Gruden would have to improve to be considered mediocre. Getting out scored 2/3 rds of the time in the second half is pathetic, unless you are always up 4 TDS at half and playing backups in quarter 3 & 4. If you grade his record he is a D+ at best, on the ABC scale.

I think you may wanna go check the stats. Cowher was wildly successful his first 4-6 years in Pittsburgh. I have quite a few family members and friends who are Steeler fans, so you find yourself paying attention to what they're doing (naturally, I find myself having a pulse on pretty, much all the teams being I'm a fan of the game first and foremost)

Cowher was far from mediocre during his first 4-6 years.

You are correct. Cowher's first six seasons from 1992-1997, he won no less than 9 games each season, and won the AFC championship in 1995. Cowher only went 9-7 once during those first six season, in 1993.

I take it back then, I must have mixed up Cowher with someone else.

A source with the #Redskins tells me

“Jay Gruden isn’t putting [Dwayne] Haskins in a position to get better. He’s not getting any reps with our offense. He’s running mostly scout team. If Gruden keeps Haskins in this position, how will he ever be prepared to play?”

Looks like Jay is blatantly asking to get canned

Is that a surprise? What else would he do. He knows he's coaching for his job this year and thus he needs to win now to have a chance at it. Why would he give reps to a guy who won't be able to help him win this season?

That's the biggest reason he should be canned sooner rather than later. The Skins need to recognize it's time to rebuild for the long view.

Wait till Gruden starts McCoy.

That will be the ultimate FU to Snyder and the fans.

Re: How Long Will Jay Gruden Last This Season as Head Coach?

Think you need to change this thread to simply "When".
The only time it makes sense to fire a HC mid-season is only when it is evident that he has lost the locker room and the team quits on him. Otherwise I think more harm than good comes from a mid season firing.

Facts are
1. No secret that Gruden entered this season, firmly on the hot seat.
2. You are 0-3. Of 176 teams in the league history that have started 0-3, only 6 ever made it to the playoffs.

So odds are more than favorable that Gruden has coached his last season in DC. Now we have to ask ourselves "Who would want to come here to coach?"
