Smith has only been in his current role for 2 years

Just don't know if a divisional rival would be willing to let a member of their front office go to someone within the division, especially if that front office member is a very valuable piece.
They wouldn't stand in the way of someone getting a promotion opportunity. Remember Howie Roseman is the GM there right now, Douglas is not the top personnel guy. But he deserves to be somewhere. Very highly thought of. Grew up in the Ravens organization under Newsome.

Trying to look for a reason why I should love Kyle Smith and I'm struggling to find it. Tim Settle looks promising, and Guice fell into our laps in the 2nd round and I think should be a steal over time. Aside from that, what did his draft get us?

I'm happy with Payne but you should be happy with the 13th overall pick.

I also have a problem going with anybody who's been part of the football operation this year. There's value in cleaning it all out and starting fresh, new mentality and new ideas all around.

Good point. I’m on board with anyone who will improve the team.

With that logic we should have passed on McVay.

Not saying your wrong but old sayings are old for a reason.

Don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

Drafts are really difficult to assess after 75%of one season.

You said it yourself, Drafts are really difficult to assess after 13 games.
Smith has 1 draft as the head of college scouting. He has a popular name but how can you assess anything he's done?

McVay had 3 seasons as OC.
His last season as OC and Play caller, they ranked 3rd in the NFL in yards per game.

I like that he is a younger guy. Fuck this ole boys league hiring stuff. Tried it, doesn't work. I'd like to give him a shot.

Same with the HC, fuck the offensive best friend coach stuff, give me Kris Richard or some other young defensive coach.

That's in line with what a prodigy is.

Brilliant and new.

What's been extraordinary about this prodigy so far?

Out of his first 4 picks, 3 of them have more injuries than games started(Guice, Christian, Apke).

I like Payne and Guice picks but this isn't extraordinary.

The honest answer is nobody knows.

The bottom line is nobody in this forum, or even the media for that matter, know how good or bad he is; or how much or little involvement he had in the draft because Bruce has kept the whole FO workings intentionally vague.

All we know for certain is that people who would have the best opportunity to know think he is special.

It is also a big jump to assume he was solely responsible for those picks.

It is also a bit early to assume Guice and Christian are bad picks.

I also read there was a huge internal disagreement on Apke.

But if you want to assign those picks and those injuries to Smith as a stawman to knock over be my guest because my interest in him as a GM is as equally uninformed.

I’m really hoping If we are lucky enough to get rid of Bruce Allen, that we just don’t promote Doug and make no other changes in the front office. That would be a terrible failure. We need to completely culture change in the front office.

If a large number of heads haven't rolled by NYE, I'll just lose all hope.

Re: All I want for Christmas is a nsw Front Office

The biggest reason to clean house, including Smith, is he’s yet another one of these people that Bruce Allen knows, so he went with what was comfortable. He knew AJ Smith and AJ said hey give my son a shot.

I want all sense of cronyism gone from Redskins Park. I want a culture of what you know, not who you know. I don’t like how everyone is familiar with everyone, it breeds a culture of comfort. There are very good candidates out there, we just need to look.

Smith can’t be ANY worse than Allen, and at least Smith is a football mind. Allen should be on the business side of the house, and has NO business making football decisions.
