As for our great quarterbacks i think the hogs and Riggo and all that other talent made them great. Damn it almost hurts to remember how freakin good we were than. Fuckin Snyder.
Also i think it was Beathard. Casserly got there in 89.
Yes...according to a documentary that I saw, believe it or not Dave Woodley's failure in Super Bowl 17 actually shattered his confidence and he wasn't the same quarterback the next year.

Unfortunately Dave Woodley began as a slow spiral down

And Yes...David Woodley's demise lead to the Dolphins drafting Dan Marino.

Re: Bruce Allen FINALLY speaks....at the Senior Bowl

Doug started the entire playoffs in 87, and started a few games during the regular season too. Jay S. was so hot and cold. He was benched for good in the season finale against the Vikings when Doug came off the bench and helped win that game. What a weird season that was w/ the strike and the replacement games.

Doug Williams took over the starting QB job after Jay Schroader was playing poorly the last game of the season against Minnesota....the Redskins played from behind and Doug Williams lead the Redskins to a win....afterwards the starting QB job was given to Doug and he started every game in the playoffs, including SB 22.

Yes this is correct. Doug started the game - he was coming into it with a sprained knee. On that sack it bothered him and he came out. Schroeder came in and struggled. Then the first quarter ended, and the most memorable 2nd quarter in Redskins history started, with Doug back on the field.

For those who want to relive, here is the game in its entirety. For younger fans who may not have seen this, it's a good watch. Should give you a little much needed pride in the franchise.

I just watched it. It was a non-contact slip. He wrenched his knee as his foot when out when he dropped back on 1st and 10. Schroeder came in for two plays. Then Doug came back and lit it up.

I've always thought skins lucked out big time on that play and I never hear mention of it{but I'm sure theres still pissed off Bronco fans about it!}But Williams just gives that ball up when he wrenches his knee and a Bronco recovers it,should have been Broncos ball IMO

Under today's rule the replay would have allowed them to look at it and determine if it was a fumble and clear recovery.

But at the time, replay was not used for judgment calls like down by contact. Because the ref ruled Doug down by contact on the slip they couldn't go back and review it on replay.

But yeah you're right, they lucked out because the ref missed that the ball came out before he was touched down by contact. Definitely lucked out.

But with a final score of 42-10 I feel confident in saying we would have smacked that ass anyway. HTTR

Maybe? Probably? Momentum can be a big thing,Broncos would have had it on their side of the 50,they go up 17-0 then who knows

Yep. In fact, during the entire second half, the 'skins basically ran one play - counter-trey. Even if they had allowed the fumble on the Williams injury, who knows, maybe the 'skins would've wont 56-17.

This isn't good news for the skins.

Even if one wasn't a fan of the skins building a stadium in MD, its one less option which reduces the teams leverage in negotiating a deal with DC or VA.
