Where will you "draft" your skins?

Fantasy football should be coming up for most of us and I was wondering where everybody will be drafting Redskins at. I drafted Portis with my first pick (5th overall) last year and he did great for me. He didnt kill with touchdowns but he was consistent. I think he will be amazing this year.
Santana Moss's production might go down with productive players beside him
but ive never really been sold on that formula. His yards might go down but
his touchdowns will be right there. And dont forget Cooley! Switching to TE
might be what he needs to become a viable fantasy option/pro bowler. I personaly wont be drafting Cooley very high this year. Everybody is like:look what Saunders has done with Tony Gonzalez! Well, Tony is one or two on TE
charts not because of the system he plays for but because hes a fantastic player. Im sure Saunders will get the most out of Cooley this year.

I definitely agree.

I'm in it to win it when it comes to FF. It's nice to win with Skins players on your team, but at the same time I won't reach for Skins players.

The Skins definitely have some nice fantasy prospects this year though.

If I have the 4th or 5th I'll take Portis.Mainly because I don't trust Edge and sooner or later my prediction that Tiki will start slowing down will come true.

Re: Where will you "draft" your skins?

Last year, I got Moss off the waiver wire after week one, and got Cooley in the eleventh round. They both took me into the playoffs.

I love having Skins on my team, because I'm so singleminded (to be read, drunk) on Game Day that I don't want to follow two teams. I'm not going to pick Skins at my team's detriment, though.

I never start players that are playing against the Skins. So even if Peyton Manning is coming off 4 straight 5 TD games, and my backup QB is Kody Pickett...well then I just take my chances with Pickett.

redskins players are the only players i'll allow on my fantasy team from the nfc east, regardless of how good a player is playing no eagles, giants or cowturds allowed.

i'm about winning. portis is #4-6 (depending on how you rank tiki and edge). santana is generally around 35-40, cooley goes LATE (100-110) unless you're playing with skins fans. lloyd is another late WR worth looking at too.

Re: Where will you "draft" your skins?

I'd consider taking Portis in the third sport and rethink LJs status as the front runner in the first spot. Regarding the former, Portis comes off a huge yardage year and I favor consistency on a roster more than big games. I think the entire Redskins offense, which was surprisingly productive last year (11th overall) is going to be considerably better with Al Saunders; and not just on long bombs to Santana Moss either. There will be some more redzone posessions this year where we have consistent chain-movement from one endzone to the other.

I understand that Portis loses touchdowns near the endzone to players like Sellers and Cooley, but teams will adjust to those guys and Portis is at least good for the 10 he had last year. Factor in additional receptions from Saunders offense and you might squeeze out an additional 1 or 2 tds.

Most importantly I think is that Portis will slowly transition from a power runner (he bulked up last season, remember and has since lost weight) up the middle to an outside threat, and this translates into longer runs and, possibly, hopefully, please, more long breaks for touchdowns -- and more yards.

But I'm willing to hear arguments. If you can fit 3-4 guys legitimately in front of Portis I'll consider calling down that #3 pick, but I've got see the list with support.

are you serious?
unless you think portis is going to put up faulk type numbers, i can't see how it's even an arguement.

LJ, without starting 7 games, had 21 TDs (2.1k yards)
SA had 28 (1.9k yards)
LT had 23 (1.8k yards)
CP had 11 (1.7k yards)

not to mention he lags them all in yardage. he clearly falls into the 2nd tier with guys like barber (11 tds, 2.3k yards) and edge (14 tds, 1.8k yards). I agree his numbers will be up, but he's simply not as good as LT and our redzone doesn't feature CP vulture carries (betts and cartwright aren't held back from subbing in just cause we're at the one, and cooley and sellers get tons of 3 yard passes in that area).

Even with a couple extra TDs as per your prediction, 13 <<<<< 21+... that's at least 48 points right off the bat, and the skins system of player substitution isn't conducive to FF scoring. LT and SA are more consistent than portis (remember that 5 td stinker season?) and LJ, even on a flyer, is a pretty safe bet to have at least 15 touchdowns (1 per game) when he had 2 per start last year (discounting the 4 in the first 7 games as a part timer).

in 10 yard/point leagues:
LJ: 336 (not a 16 game starter)
SA: 358
LT: 318
CP: 236

in 20 yard/point leagues:
LJ: 231
SA: 263
LT: 228
CP: 151

-80 points. the evidence is pretty damning.

Re: Where will you "draft" your skins?

in my own fantasy league, i'll be picking 3rd this season.
the guy with the 1st pick has already told me that he is taking larry johnson, my wife picks 2nd and i'm sure she will take either sean alexander or ladanian, regardless of who she picks i'm taking portis at the #3 spot.

Re: Where will you "draft" your skins?

The one thing that concerns me about the three top ranked guys (LJ, LT, SA) is that they all had pretty big offensive changes this offeseason, none of which were for the better.
Portis, on the other hand, obviously had some big changes on offense too, but I think you could argue that they are for the better. The only thing that could really hurt Portis is that it looks like the ball may be spread around much more this season.

Re: Where will you "draft" your skins?

Here are the guys I put over CP in FF:

LT: Talk about consistency? This guy is the most consistent in the game.
Alexander: 2nd most consistent.
LJ: Hard to ignore last year's numbers.
Tiki: He's a late bloomer of sorts. The only concern is losing goalline touches (which may happen with CP as well).
