Re: Bucs beat down postgame

I thought Ron and the staff deserve some major kudos for having this team ready to rock coming off the bye, and for a couple of decisions they made late in the game, #1 going for it on 4th down with 29 seconds left instead of kicking a FG, and then taking a knee on the conversion to not risk a 2 point run back on a blocked kick.

Also props to Del Rio for orchestrating a defense that was missing two key pieces in Sweat and Young and keeping Brady and the Bucs off kilter all day long.

Yeah, the D played really well on all levels I thought. They were without St-Juste as well.

The story is sus but without any evidence it's just hearsay. Easier just to blame the common denominator.

I was hoping with the major field reconstruction it would be the last we'd hear about terrible injuries happening with our turf, but I guess not.

Extend Wes, draft a guard at some point to be a backup, waive goodbye to Scherff, that would be my play if I was in charge.

Definitely. All of the coaches got the job done the past 2 weeks leading up to the game. Job well done. That was about as clean as a victory as you could hope for. The guys were ready to play and win.

Please do it again this week. We need to stretch at least 2 or 3 wins together.

Your mistake was listening to anything ESPN. That company is strictly for watching games now.

[QUOTE=MTK;1299762] then taking a knee on the conversion to not risk a 2 point run back on a blocked kick./QUOTE]

Not saying I wholly disagree with that play, because with 30 seconds left the points were likely to be immaterial. But if you were worried about a blocked kick, especially given Slye seemed to be kicking well, why not just try a normal 2pt attempt pass with the instruction to throw it away if there's nobody open immediately? Someone breaks through the OL you just drop and take the sack/knee anyway, and if you actually get the 2 pts you've got an insurmountable 2 TD lead. Seems a bit un-riverboat like.

Re: Bucs beat down postgame

^ What's the risk/reward there though? You can say just throw it away, but crazy things can happen. Botched snap, immediate pressure, sack/fumble, etc. A 10 point lead with 30 seconds left is already 99.9% insurmountable.

Re: Bucs beat down postgame

Bucs only chance was getting 2 pts plus a TD.

Smart move to take it way from them.

Smart move going for it on 4th and goal from the 1, up 4, with 0:29 left as well.

Re: Bucs beat down postgame

going for it on 4th down was great, it showed the team that Ron is saying "u deserve this game"

Re: Bucs beat down postgame

I thought Scott Turner called a good game too.

Probably the biggest takeaway from Sunday is this team is still playing hard and isn't giving up.

Could end up being a signature type of win if we can keep it going against Carolina.
