I know we need defense (desperately), but our red zone efficiency (and offense in general) improves 5x with Dalvin.
Cook had 6 fumbles this year.... he is good, but we need defense

The defensive talent in the first round looks good so far. I also believe we need to go defense in the first round. I think we could still pick up a decent RB in the 3rd and 4th rounds. Maybe a Perine, Gallman, Foreman, or Conner.

We are not taking a RB in the first round.
And I've had enough of RBs that fumble.

With the holes they made for Kelley, even Cook couldn't find extra room. In fact, I imagine he'd find less since he's not as physical.

If we are looking for a good RB for later Rds, we could always look at Matt Dayes from NC State, as a Wolfpack fan, this may be somewhat a homer pick, but I think he has the potential to be a great NFL back.....first Rds need to focus completely on defense!

I definitely watch a lot of ACC football too and if we're going to poach a back in the later rounds: James Conner. Dude is an absolute monster.

Re: 2017 Draft Prospects

He runs REALLY upright like Eddie George, but I haven't seen a more physical back in a long time.

Adams and Hooker are studs but i think they'll be long gone by pick 17.

Re: 2017 Draft Prospects

I'm a fan of OJ Howard. Similar to Reed in that he's too big and physical for safeties and too athletic for linebackers. Love his run after catch skills. The one game I really watched him in besides highlight videos was Auburn and he threw some nice really blocks in that game, so he's not just a pass catcher. But I dunno how consistent his blocking is, he had a whiff or two as well

if Connor passes a thorough physical, I would consider him in the 5th round.... even if you use him solely in short yardage / goal line situations he would be very valuable

I can see 2 RBs being drafted

Word. Probably right.

The 2 RBs are hype?

Re: 2017 Draft Prospects

Foxsports.com mock draft

DeShaun Watson - QB - Clemson

This totally depends on how contract negotiations go with Kirk Cousin, obviously, but if Cousins is franchise tagged for a second year or signs elsewhere, Watson, who showed a lot of guts in the National Championship Game, would be a great fit here.

(Washington could also go with Jabrill Peppers in this spot — there are few teams that could assimilate him easily, and Jay Gruden’s team is one of them.)

Needs: Safety, linebacker, defensive line, running back

Thoughts?

I'm a FSU fan, I've seen a lot of Cook. He's a freaking game changer. Best player in the draft if you ask me. He doesn't have fumbling problems. Just YouTube the Orange Bowl and watch him turn 3rd and 21 into a 71 yard run and 1 inch away from a TD. If we have Cousins locked up and he's there at 17 I'd cry if we didn't get him. And it's not like it's not a position of need. We need another back.
