Re: 4th rd pick Samaje Perine

I like the pick but he is inline with the make up of our existing rb core outside of Chris Thompson. Kelly, Mack, and Perine are all similar type backs...I think we lack a more dynamic 1-2 down runners.

That being said, I think a makeup of a physical, bruising power run game isn't bad. But not the best pass catching group and certainly the speed out the backfield will not threaten teams that have a hard time containing that speed on the edges, off tackle. Picky but just an observation

Well the one aspect in which I agree with you is Rob and Perine are both between the tackles guys, not homerun guys. But Perine is different, he is the only one of the bunch that can move a LB backwards in the hole. He can make a yard when there are none there. It's a perfect red zone solution, we have been so poor at punching it in on goal lines, finally now we can do it.

I saw him play a few times this year and agree he just may be that back we need to get that hard one yard. HTTR!!

Yes, he looks like he has what it takes to succeed in short yardage. I like him a lot in that role.

We need to show a little patience with him as he develops. He was a 4th rounder for a reason. There are some areas where he needs to improve but he has the potential to be a very good RB.

In my opinion, I think Perine is more than just a short yardage back. Check out his college stats compared to other great running backs that came out of OU (Adrian Peterson and DeMarco Murray) in the link below. I think he dropped to the 4th round because he's not viewed as a hybrid back (like McCaffrey, Cook and Kamara) that can also line up as a receiver. I'm excited about Perine and I wouldn't be surprised if he's our starting running back by week 5.

This is clearly a pass first offense anyway. The backs need to score and pick up first downs. I like adding another physical runner, in fact this guy is more of a bruiser than Kelley.

The guy did 30 on the BP, now they should be able to run on 3rd and short. And in the red zone...... #$%& the fade pass from the 2 yard line, it is time for some smash mouth football.

Perine could wrestle the job away from Kelley at some point.

I agree. Packer fans on NFL.com wanted him real bad. We are doing well thus far in this draft.

Not a burner, but the stiff arm is back! Kid has lots of YAC. Looks tough. Granted, these are highlights, but he sure breaks a lot of tackles.

Re: 4th rd pick Samaje Perine

those long runs remind me of riggins, they way he takes awhile to reach top speed. while he may lack acceleration, his top speed is not bad.

looks like an animal! i love this pick.
