There are about nine guys on that list at the top (eight minus Rogers) who would be intriguing options opposite Josh Wilson, and about half this list would be a nice upgrade over what Hall offers. For six million dollars of used cap space, that is:

The league against DeAngelo Hall, QB passer rating (on passes where Hall is targeted):

2010 - 105.8
2011 - 100.4
Those number are worthless without knowing how many times they actually threw his way.

9. Rolled-over deadcap obligation for Haynesworth/McNabb/Hicks/Rabach = up to $7.3 million

The NFL accounts for this in their "list of 51 cap numbers" it sent out, so the Redskins are working with about $7 million less cap room than the highest estimates.

Re: Redskins 2012 Salary Cap Status

The numbers aren't changing all that much from the last update, but the main changes:

-adjusted salary cap estimate down
-raised the total of committed money from $86.3 million to $93.5 million (most of the difference is deadcap from Haynesworth, McNabb et al)
-added the cap numbers for Montgomery and Scott
-put allowances for outstanding or impending contract tenders with Gano, Westbrook, Lichtenstiger, as well as showed the cap room with and without the Fred Davis franchise tender.

The Redskins are working with an estimated $14 million to improve the team if they resign all five of the their top UFAs (Fletcher, Landry, Davis, Carriker, Hightower). If they let all these guys walk, it's $34 million. If they franchise Davis, and let the rest walk, it's $28.5 million.

As always, they can recoup some salary cap space by working restructures and releases, namely with Hall. They sit on about $10 million of available cap room with existing players.

Not sure where you get this. Our deadcap is $2.4M including $2M for AH.

- My current sheets have our 51 number at $87M. Add in the $2.4M deadcap, Monty's contract, and another $1M for Stallworth's deal and I get to $93.1M, pretty close to the article.

$93.5 is the NFLs number. I really don't think it includes the recent moves of Montgomery, etc. I could be wrong on that.

There was also the Rabach release, as well as the Mike Williams release and McNabb trade, which all would create deadcap the same way as Haynesworth, just because they were post June 1 moves.

I still think it's dumb that they had moves that went post 6/1 in the accounting when there was a lockout for three months leading up to 6/1.

You could be right I'm not sure either, but it came out on the 28th so Monty's deal could be in there.

I think it worked a little different this year due to the lockout. There was a grace period with no deadcap charges which exempted guys like Portis, McNabb, etc. Haynesworth got a deadcap charge cuz he was traded later on.

It doesn't matter anyways, all our figures are in the same ballpark.

Re: Redskins 2012 Salary Cap Status

Updated with Davis' franchise tender:

We're working with $30.4 million. I estimate it would cost about $11.5 million more to bring everyone back. And remember, Davis cap number can be brought down via long term deal.

I have also changed the overall cap projection w/o Landry in the picture.

Re: Redskins 2012 Salary Cap Status

Moved Westbrook to UFA, and adjusted the numbers. Nothing much changes.

And I'm pulling Landry as a projected re-signing due to multiple reports that the Redskins are no longer serious suitors for his services next season. Will put him back if something unexpected gets done.

Re: Redskins 2012 Salary Cap Status

Does your $20.964 million number include draft pick projections? Also what is this cap rollover of 13 million? I'm not too up to date on the new rules of the new cba, but I thought the only way to rollover money from year to year was when LTBE incentives were not met?

So assuming we get Carriker, Hightower, and Fletcher, we'll have roughly $11.5 million more to spend? Its sounds like we can sign 2 more starting players without re-structuring. I'm rooting for either Thomas or Carr to pair up with either Garcon or Colston (but if I know Shanny he'll go for the physical phenom in V-Jax if we get a WR).
