not going to happen before 2013. Too many holes to fill, including QB.

Would Champ even consider coming back? Maybe Shanahan could persuade him to play FS.

Re: time to play GM

we need to sign a free safety. i think that kareem moore is pretty bad. i think we can get by with landry, rogers, deangelo hall, buchanon, and barnes in the secondary, however we definitely need to add a free safety.

at linebacker, rocky, fletcher, and orakpo are fine, but we need another outside linebacker to compliment orakpo. if we find a replacement for rocky thats fine, but we can manage with him there i think.

defensive line, we need a lot of help. we need a true nose tackle that is worth a damn, and we need depth there. daniels, carriker, and golston can hang around, we need depth like i said. but we also need to sign 2 nose tackles in my opinion.

offensive line, again we need some help. williams, lichtsteiger, montgomery, and brown can stay. id really like us to pick up a starting center and right guard.

qb, i think we are ok

rb, it would be nice to pick one up in FA but id be opposed to drafting one. torrain when healthy has looked good, and shannahan has done well turning no names into good backs. i think we can be ok here with better o-line play.

wr, we need a lot of help. justin blackmon from ok state would be a nice pickup in the first round if we decide to go WR there. either way, we need at least 2 receivers, one of them being a #1.

tight end, we are good

summary

we need 2 wide receivers- one a number 1 receiver
we need a right guard and center
we need 2 nose tackles and depth at defensive end
we need another rush linebacker
we need a free safety

So this is what I would do if I was the GM
Rebuild the O-line via Free Agency Gaither, Mankins, Penn, Colledge, Kalil and maybe Clabo.
Draft Justin Blackmon, Julio Jones or A.J Green. 1st round
Draft Bruce Carter or Gregg Jones OLB 2nd round
Pick up Richard Seymour
Sign VJAX
Sign Champ, chris houston, or eric wright
Release
Rocky
Rabach
Moss
Hicks
Golston
Buchanon
Kemo
AL
Daniels
your turn
Seems like you're looking for a quick fix. Are you Vinny or Dan hiding behind the screen? It's going to take years to rebuild the team. Sure we can keep bringing in other teams players but has it worked? No. We need two or three solid drafts before we start adding expensive FA's. I'm willing to wait cause I'm tired of the way we've been doing it. So I wouldn't add any of those players. I'd try trade away any player on this team that has value for picks...Moss, Haynesworth, Cooley, McNabb, Hall. And while I was doing that, get lucky with a couple guys...like TB and NE did w/ LaGarrett Blout and Danny Woodhead.

Re: time to play GM

I would plan my plan in such a way that we will be assured to get Phillip Rivers' brother when he becomes available.

Sadly, I don't follow college ball, so I have no idea who to target in the future draft(s).

I would try and trade him at this point. Let him go somewhere where he has a chance to win. It's not going to happen here anytime soon. New England has a lot of picks so I'd be on the phone with them. Put Santana in that offense and he is going to catch a ton of balls.

I think it's debatable whether he'll outperform Deion Branch.

I don't even want to be competitive at this point. For what? Nothing worse than having an old team that can't compete for a playoff spot.

I disagree cause then the coaches will play the older guys cause they want to win and the young guys really won't play and get experience. Get younger and let them play and live with their mistakes.

Re: time to play GM

Not quite ready to play GM but I will say what I want most is a QB. Not to replace McNabb next year per se but a QB for the future. Just something to think about...or ponder, if you will.

This is why I really don't want to win anymore games. Andrew Luck could be our QB of the future.

He may not out perform him but I think he'd fit in perfect there. Plus NE needs a #3 wr. Santana is a veteran that can still get open, he keeps his mouth shut and does his job. Typical BB kinda guy.
