Re: Redskins have claimed LB Reuben Foster

The thought has occurred to me that the reason we keep accumulating Alabama players has at least something to do with a long term play to lure Nick Saban to succeed Jay Gruden.

Ive had the same thought recently and I wouldn't be opposed to that happening.

I heard Saban does want another crack at the NFL. He strikes me as the kind of guy that wants to prove he is the best anyplace anywhere.

Why would Saban ever leave Bama. He hated his time in Cleveland and failed miserably with Miami. He is a God in college.

It is a desperation move. Have you see our run defense the last several weeks?

Logically I agree, but human ego is such that there's sometimes a desire to prove you can do more. Maybe he will stay in Alabama, you might be right. But humans don't always do what makes logical sense.

Fuck this team. Gruden sucks as a coach, Bruce Allen is worthless garbage, and Snyder is the worse owner in sports. Pure filth. A disgrace to people like Joe Gibbs

Joe Gibbs coached plenty of guys w/ questionable character. Did he cut Sean Taylor after he got into a few off the field incidents? Dexter Manley had a few too and he got 2nd and 3rd chances. Everyone is treated differently based on how good you are. There's a clip on one of the Americas Game episodes where Jimmy Johnson cut a back up LB for falling asleep in a meeting. He was asked if Aikman did the same what would happen. Johnson replied, " I'd simply tap Troy on the shoulder and tell him to wake up."

A shit ton of money, and the challenge of redeeming himself at the pro level.

Saban is 67 years old, it would make no sense to leave Alabama for the NFL at that age.

I would take Saban in a heartbeat but I doubt he leaves Bama, he's the king there

I agree. Women do lie about these type of things all the time. In my opinion, it doesn't matter if he did it or not. I want him here because of his talent.

While that's great...his friend Bill Belichick is still held in much higher regard in that coaching fraternity because its the professional level. I think Saban is aware of that and wouldn't dispute that fact.

Apples and oranges. Let Saban have the same players at Bama like a Tom Brady for a decade. He would never lose - he doesn’t anyway. Lol. You are coaching teenagers. You have to recruit. They have standards that must be met. Ask people in Alabama or down south for that matter if they give a fuck about the NFL. Nope. College is no cakewalk compared to the pros. He coached under BB in Cleveland so of course he would give him the respect but Bear Bryant is as much a legend as Vince Lombardi.
