Re: Montez Sweat

I’m pretty excited to see Sweat suit up this year and completely solidify our D line. The only thing that scares me about him was never the heart rumors. It was the fact that he was kicked off the Michigan St team a couple years back. Yes he got his act together and played amazing the last couple years. He was young said he has matured since then. But I’m nervous for him cause he’s finally getting a nice paycheck so he has more freedom. I’m just afraid his old ways are going to catch back up with him.

I haven’t been able to find out any further details on his “breaking team rules” from back then so I could be nothing really. Does anybody know more on what happened?

Re: Montez Sweat

Man, I'm fired up about this guy. Pass rush ability is what we all want, and its where he'll stake his claim, but he also scores high on setting the edge on the run game. We hit this out of the park getting him at 26.

Kerrigan, Sweat, Allen, Payne, Ioaniddis crashing the pocket is sexy. And they are all strong against the run game too.

Front 7 is gonna be a top 5ish unit (assuming health).

Nothing changes a defense like a quality speed rusher coming off the blind side. nothing

Second most important player on the team next to quarterback.

I'd argue that LT is the 2nd and Edge / CB right behind those 2. Sweat adds a great dimension to an already very good Defensive front. If The Offense can just manage a consistent 23 PPG, we should win 8-10 games

I loved the trade up to get him, I am very excited we got him at 26.

I think its just that wr is more glaring of a need than even edge rush. I dont wanna get all drunk on kool aid, but we have the makings of a nasty ass defense with Sweat, Foster, Nicholson, all ready to go. Our front 7 should be nasty AF. Guice, Haskins, Scherff is back. Love could be a big x factor. McLaurin. Reed healthy? We really do have the makings of what could be a solid team. Gruden is running out of excuses.

Re: Montez Sweat

Sweat is a big upgrade at a critical position. He balances Kerrigan on the other side. We will have one of the best DL in the NFL. From one of the worst stopping the run, to near the first in just 3 years. We'll also have natural QB pressure without having to blitz very often.
