Riveria didn't mention Foster's name whenever he talks about the defense so it doesn't seem like the new coaches are expecting anything from Foster at this time.

Re: Redskins decline Reuben Foster’s 2021 option

I remember his injury last year was on the first day of OTA's. Like a vile warning of how the season was gonna be.

Nerve damage was the reason Kyshoen Jarrett had to retire. Not looking good for Reuben Foster, in terms of making this roster, and possibly ever playing football again too.

A lot of Allen and Gruden's guys aren't going to be here. Just comes with the territory when there's a coaching change. Foster hasn't even played a down for us. Not expecting much if anything from him at this point.

I wouldn’t overreact to this news and take it to mean he won’t have a role, it’s just that the team didn’t see the sense in paying such a high price in 2021 for someone with injury question marks. He could definitely earn a big role this year, and then Ron might be willing to extend him.

It just doesn’t make sense to commit $8M or whatever it is just yet.

Taking an $8 million gamble would be crazy, especially since he hasn’t played in a regular game in 1.5 years.

Makes sense.

Wish he could've played a few games for us but you have to wonder the effect Ron Rivera and a new coaching staff will have on him.

That is good news. Excited to see what he can bring to this defense. Really, really hope he can stay healthy.

Re: Redskins decline Reuben Foster’s 2021 option

Just a week or so ago, I read that he's expected "by week 6"...now week 1!

If he's healthy, that will be a huge addition to the D.

I hope he can stay on the field and sign long term with us. Along with his Alabama guys on D, our giving him a chance and sticking with him through these past few years will hopefully count for something when his current contract is up.
