Who is it?

From the Post article:

"Having worked into the wee hours trying to re-sign one of his Washington Redskins veterans, Joe Gibbs didn't make it to North Carolina until 2 a.m. on Tuesday, which gave him just enough time to grab a few hours' sleep and a shower before his 9:30 a.m. news briefing to tout his race teams' prospects for the upcoming NASCAR season."

So who is the Redskins veteran that Gibbs is trying to resign? My guess is Samuels. I have a feeling Smooty is gone, plus the Skins are kind of handcuffed until they finalize Samuels' situation. So I'm guessing Samuels is the priority right now in the front office. Any thoughts?

I'd say Smoot honestly...without having much information it seems most of the other negotiations have been going pretty smoothly and might not require staying up until the wee hours of the morning. The only reason to do that is to beat a deadline or strike while the iron is hot. Iron is hot = making progress where there wasn't much before. Of course I am probably just hoping...

It's Samuels, I forget where I saw it but I'm 99% sure it's in reference to Samuels. I'll try to dig up a link.

That's Gibbs for you, going the extra mile to resign his vets.

Yeah I can't find the link either but I think it was a chat with Mort or Lenny on ESPN and he said Samuels

Thats a good thing we do need to keep him. Now the next step is to keep Smoot. I do hope THE GOD GIBBS resigns him. It would be a bigg loss if we lose him. even though we do have Springs.

Part of my unflappable football instincts tell me that Smoot will be back. (I hope)

Could possibly be Smoot. Dunno about going smoothly, though - In Pastabelly's chat on ESPN, he said Snyder met with Samuels' agent and there was no progress whatsoever on lowering his cap number.

I'm thinking Smoot is as good as gone.

I think we made a choice between Pierce and Smoot and Pierce won out.

If I had to make that decision I don't know who I would choose. I know that Pierce is the better performer, but Smoot has the intangibles. I dunno. I would hope that someway, somehow we could sign them both.

Would gibbs of used the term re-sign rather than re-negotiat if he was talking about Samuels. I think it is smoot because of his wording.
